Senior Product Applications Engineer
About the Role

This position is for a Product Applications engineer in the Aerospace, Defense & Communications Group (ADC). This group develops ultra-wideband transceiver products for aerospace, defense, instrumentation, and satellite applications. As a Senior Product Applications Engineer, you will lead the creation of tools that assist customers in integrating ADI products into their designs. You will provide innovative, practical, and timely solutions to complex customer issues while developing and applying comprehensive system-level understanding of application segments. In this senior role, you'll work collaboratively within cross-discipline teams to bring new products to market, mentor junior team members, and serve as a technical authority for customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

  • System-Level Expertise: Apply and expand comprehensive understanding of relevant application segments to solve complex integration challenges and optimize customer designs (Software, Hardware, and Systems)
  • Advanced Tool Development: Build solution platforms for application investigations, product evaluation, demonstration systems and reference designs for ADEF and Instrumentation markets. Write code to test and debug ultra-wideband transceiver product evaluation systems using lab test equipment.
  • Strategic Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive collaboration across engineering, marketing, and sales teams to streamline product development, accelerate market introduction, and achieve business objectives
  • Complex Problem Solving: Resolve sophisticated technical challenges for strategic customers, applying deep product knowledge and creative problem-solving approaches
  • Comprehensive Product Validation: Design and execute thorough testing methodologies to validate product specifications, define operational boundaries, and ensure reliable performance across diverse application environments
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert for specific product lines or application segments, providing guidance to junior team members and customers
  • Competitive Intelligence: Conduct in-depth analysis of competitor products, create detailed comparison tables, and provide strategic insights to maintain ADI's competitive advantage
  • Market-Specific Knowledge: Ensure products meet qualification requirements for specialized markets through rigorous testing and validation processes

Must Have Skills

  • System Level Design Expertise: Advanced proficiency in system architecture with the ability to optimize integrated solutions across multiple components and subsystems for maximum performance
  • Software Engineering Proficiency Strong coding and programming & debugging skills in C/C++ , Python or Matlab
  • Application Development Leadership: Demonstrated ability to independently develop sophisticated application tools, reference boards, and software that effectively showcase product capabilities and address complex customer needs
  • Strategic Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Proven experience building consensus across engineering, marketing, and sales teams to achieve critical business objectives and successfully bring products to market
  • Advanced Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical abilities with demonstrated success resolving complex technical challenges using innovative approaches and deep domain knowledge
  • Comprehensive Product Validation: Expert understanding of validation methodologies to thoroughly test specifications, define operational limits, and ensure product reliability in diverse application environments
  • Deep Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of semiconductor products and their applications, with specialized expertise in specific product lines or technology domains
  • Strategic Competitor Analysis: Ability to evaluate competing products and technologies, identifying strategic advantages and providing actionable insights to maintain market leadership
  • Technical Communication Mastery: Superior ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts through documentation, presentations, and direct customer engagement with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Qualification Testing Expertise: Thorough knowledge of qualification testing requirements for specialized markets, with ability to develop and execute appropriate testing strategies

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in product applications engineering, customer technical support, or related roles
  • Strong engineering background with proven understanding of first principles and deep expertise in complex system development.
  • Strong fundamentals in high speed data converters, radio signal chain and hardware/software interaction.
  • Experience with phase array radar, EW or instrumentation system design and architecture preferred.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $110,385 to $151,808.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
