The ideal candidate applies sound judgment within a defined scope, builds strong cross-functional relationships, manages details effectively, and translates analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the Procurement contact for assigned business areas and manage procurement requests from intake through completion, clarifying requirements, budget, scope, timing, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Independently execute low- to medium-complexity sourcing projects and support more complex sourcing events, including RFP and RFQ development, supplier communications, bid analysis, evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Conduct spend, pricing, utilization, market, benchmarking, total-cost, and supplier analysis, and translate findings into clear recommendations for Procurement leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned contract renewals and related supplier activities, engaging business owners early to assess utilization, demand, notice periods, commercial considerations, and renewal requirements.
  • Coordinate assigned renewals, amendments, order forms, extensions, notices, terminations, signatures, supplier onboarding, supplier records, requisitions, purchase orders, and related follow-up from intake through completion.
  • Maintain sourcing and contract workflows in Workday Strategic Sourcing, Ironclad, and related systems, ensuring accurate contract repositories, metadata, trackers, dashboards, reporting, and workflow status.
  • Analyze spend, usage, pricing, rates, volumes, and service levels to identify savings, cost avoidance, consolidation, and leakage-recovery opportunities; support tracking of forecasted, annualized, committed, and realized savings with Finance.
  • Support supplier negotiations, contract administration, supplier performance activities, risk reviews, escalations, and remediation in coordination with Procurement leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Identify and support process-improvement opportunities across procurement workflows, controls, templates, reporting, data quality, and automation.
  • Operate as a strong individual contributor, exercising independent judgment within defined scope and escalating higher-complexity commercial, contractual, or strategic decisions to Procurement leadership.
  • Supplier negotiations, stakeholder management, and cross-functional partnership
  • Strong project management, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, Information Security, Privacy, HR, Marketing, Operations, and other stakeholders to complete procurement activities and resolve issues within assigned scope.

Who you are:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have three or more years of procurement, strategic sourcing, contract management, vendor management, or related analytical experience
  • You have experience managing sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, contract administration, and stakeholder communications
  • You have strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills
  • You have the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • You have effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and procurement-related reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
