We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team, supporting a program that spans all phases of the life cycle, from development to sustainment. You will become the next Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our team of talented engineers. As a senior technical leader, you will provide expertise and guidance across multiple disciplines, ensuring the successful design, development, production, and sustainment of complex mechanical systems. Your breadth of experience, technical expertise, and leadership skills will be essential in driving program success and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:• Perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design• Work with program leadership and recommend solutions to complex problems• Comprehensively document designs• Communicate with a cross disciplinary team of stakeholders to ensure the final product meets all requirements• Create technical presentations on designs, risk items• Perform trade studies• Present designs at design reviews• Support procurement and build of prototype designs• Support qualification activities• Support technical demonstrations• Provide engineering support during production phases• Debug and find root cause on failures• Design for manufacturing (DFM)
Required Education, Experience, & Skills • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in design, development, production, and sustainment of complex systems• Proven expertise in mechanical systems, including materials, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies• xcellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and teams• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively• Able to obtain a TS and SCI clearance• Clear communication - both oral and written - and a positive attitude.• Ability to work effectively on a team either on-site or remotely.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 15+ years of relevant experience.• The ability to perform thermal and/or structural analysis using industry simulation tools (ANSYS Workbench preferred) is a plus. • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance within the last two years.• Experience with drafting principles and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009.• Experience/Expertise in thermal/structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Ability to mentor less experienced engineers• The use of commercially available schedule tools and application of those tools within EVMS is a plus.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
