Powering the Next Industrial Revolution Transforming Energy, Materials, and Manufacturing for a Resilient Future

Lyten is seeking a Senior Patent & IP Counsel to build and lead its intellectual property function at a pivotal moment of growth and innovation. As the company’s first dedicated IP counsel, this role will shape and execute Lyten’s patent strategy across breakthrough technologies, including lithium–sulfur batteries, advanced composites, concrete admixtures, and next-generation sensors.

This is both a strategic and hands-on position, responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing the global IP portfolio, and serving as an embedded partner to product and engineering teams. The Senior Patent & IP Counsel will drive invention disclosure processes, oversee freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, and lead IP diligence for acquisitions and asset purchases. The role also includes managing outside counsel, negotiating complex IP provisions in commercial agreements, and advising on trademark, trade secret, and IP aspects of employment and contractor agreements.

The ideal candidate brings a J.D., active U.S. law license, USPTO registration, and at least 7 years of IP experience with a strong record of patent drafting and prosecution in technology, materials, or hardware sectors. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline is required, with advanced degrees and experience in battery, energy storage, or advanced materials considered a plus. U.S. citizenship is required due to export control regulations.

This is an opportunity to define and protect the IP foundation of a company recognized as one of the world’s most innovative in energy and materials. Join Lyten’s mission-driven team and help shape the technologies that will power the next century of industrial progress.
