New England Biolabs (NEB) is hiring an experienced paralegal with a primary focus on preparing, reviewing and negotiating non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, and various sales, services and other contracts, and supporting corporate compliance, corporate governance and international business. The position sits in the company’s Legal Department but will have direct contact supporting most company departments and our international subsidiaries. This job is based at our Ipswich, MA headquarters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft, negotiate, and administer various legal agreements, including confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, and other commercial agreements.

  • Evaluate, manage and monitor contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations.

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, in-house attorneys, customers, distributors, and vendors to negotiate contracts and memorialize business objectives.

  • Assist in projects concerning corporate compliance, corporate governance, and international business.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA or BSc required.

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience or equivalent knowledge or work experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and contracts management.

  • Paralegal or Contracts Specialist experience. Senior Contracts Specialist experience preferred.

  • Requires the ability to understand the scope and terms of contracts and implications of contractual terms and conditions on the company’s bottom line.

  • Creative problem solving and experience with process improvement are also highly encouraged.

  • Competence in corporate compliance functions.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is a must.
