The Impact You Will Have in This Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, Database Engineering, you will support DTCC’s Institutional Trade Processing applications, including Central Trade Manager (CTM) and Settlement Instruction Manager (SIM), which are critical platforms within the post-trade processing lifecycle.

You will design, develop, and optimize scalable database and application solutions that support high-volume, high-transaction environments. You will also contribute to strategic modernization initiatives focused on cloud adoption, platform resiliency, and performance optimization.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with complex data, building reliable enterprise solutions, and partnering across Agile teams to deliver business-critical technology outcomes.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize enterprise database solutions using Oracle and PostgreSQL. 
  • Build and support high-volume OLTP systems that process large transactional workloads. 
  • Develop data models, complex SQL queries, PL/SQL, stored procedures, views, and database objects. 
  • Partner with application development teams to build integrated solutions using Java, JDBC, JMS, and related technologies. 
  • Support cloud-first modernization initiatives using AWS and cloud-native engineering practices. 
  • Implement database change management, schema deployments, and version control using tools such as Liquibase, Git, and GitHub. 
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. 
  • Support data integration through APIs, SFTP, batch processing, ETL/ELT, and replication technologies. 
  • Ensure data quality, security, access controls, resiliency, and operational reliability. 
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, design discussions, and delivery execution using Jira. 
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and business partners to deliver scalable technical solutions. 
  • Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices, documentation standards, and technical excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, database development, or related technical roles. 
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in high-volume, transactional environments.

Talent Needed for Success

  • Strong experience with Oracle database development, preferably Oracle 19c or higher. 
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments. 
  • Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development expertise. 
  • Strong experience with data modeling, database design, and OLTP systems. 
  • Experience supporting high-volume, high-performance transactional environments. 
  • Hands-on Java development experience, including JDBC and JMS. 
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting. 
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native data platforms. 
  • Strong expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting. 
  • Experience with database change management and deployment tools such as Liquibase. 
  • Familiarity with Git, GitHub, Jira, and Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges in large-scale, mission-critical environments. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with database change management and deployment tools such as Liquibase. 
  • Familiarity with Git, GitHub, Jira, and Agile/Scrum delivery practices. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems in large-scale, high-volume transactional environments.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale modernization, cloud transformation, or application migration initiatives. 
  • Financial services, capital markets, post-trade processing, or settlement experience. 
  • Experience with Snowflake. 
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. 
  • Experience with Jenkins or CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate or other data replication technologies. 
  • Experience with Python, Perl, or other scripting languages. 
  • Familiarity with Oracle RAC, Toad, or Erwin Data Modeler.

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
