About TensorWave
Our mission is simple: deliver seamless, secure, reliable, and resilient AI compute at scale. We've built a versatile cloud platform that eliminates infrastructure barriers, empowering builders to focus on innovation instead of fighting their stack. Because breakthrough AI should move at the speed of ideas, not infrastructure.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Network Optical Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating optical and physical layer infrastructure for large-scale, high-performance network environments. You will work closely with network engineering, data center, and hardware teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient connectivity across the physical network.
This position requires strong networking fundamentals along with deep knowledge of fiber optics, transceivers, and structured cabling systems.
What You’ll Do
Design and implement optical network infrastructure for large-scale environments
Define and maintain standards for fiber plant, cabling systems, and interconnects
Select and validate optical transceivers, cabling types, and connectivity solutions
Troubleshoot physical layer issues including signal loss, link instability, and hardware
faultsWork with network engineering teams to ensure proper integration between optical and
packet layersDevelop documentation and standards for structured cabling and optical deployment
practicesValidate link budgets, power levels, and optical performance across deployments
Support data center builds, expansions, and migrations with a focus on physical layer

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Strong background in networking (L2/L3, routing, switching, data center fabrics)
Deep understanding of fiber optics and transmission standards (single-mode, multi-mode, MPO/MTP, etc.)
Experience with optical transceivers (QSFP, OSFP, CFP, etc.) and associated specifications
Familiarity with optical testing and validation tools (OTDR, power meters, light sources)
Knowledge of structured cabling design and best practices in data center environments
Ability to diagnose and resolve physical layer issues in complex environments
Experience working with vendors and validating hardware interoperability
Familiarity with Linux-based systems and basic scripting for automation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high-speed optical systems (400G/800G and beyond)
Familiarity with DWDM, CWDM, or other optical multiplexing technologies
Experience in GPU or high-performance compute environments
Exposure to large-scale data center builds and structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, etc.)
Understanding of how optical constraints impact network design (latency, loss, power budgets)
