We are ARB Interactive, the team behind Modo Casino, one of the top Social+ platforms in the US. Founded in 2022, we've grown to nearly 200 team members and were named one of LinkedIn's 2025 Top 50 Startups in the United States. We move fast, think big, and love bold ideas that push boundaries (and buttons). From new rewards to fresh game mechanics, every challenge is a chance to innovate and have fun doing it. Our culture is collaborative, curious, and full of laughter because great ideas grow best between coffee, code, and a few epic high-fives.

ARB Gaming is hiring its first Senior Mobile Games Designer to own the design of individual games and features across our Modo.us portfolio, casino-style games, bingo, and beyond. You'll drive mechanics, features, monetization, and player experience end to end on your titles, working alongside an established Product Design team and reporting to the Director of Product Design.

This is a senior, high-ownership seat built for someone who doesn't need a brief spelled out line by line: you'll take a concept, run with it, and bring back a polished, well-reasoned design ready for engineering and math to build against, without a lot of process in the way. As our first Games Designer, there's a path to Lead or Staff Games Designer as the portfolio and design needs grow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design core game mechanics, paylines, reel sets, bonus triggers, free spin structures, progressive jackpots, and volatility curves, partnering with math/RNG specialists to hit target RTP and hold targets

  • Design meta-game features, bonus rounds, mini-games, VIP/loyalty tiers, daily rewards, leaderboards, and tournaments that drive retention

  • Shape monetization design, virtual currency economy, IAP packaging, coin sales, and ad placement, balanced so it drives revenue without feeling predatory

  • Own UX/UI for game flow, onboarding, tutorials, session pacing, and win celebrations that make the game feel great to play

  • Drive LiveOps content, design seasonal events and limited-time features that keep the content calendar fresh

  • Write clear documentation, GDDs, feature specs, and math model handoffs that engineering and QA can build from without hand-holding

  • Iterate on data, read KPIs (ARPDAU, D1/D7/D30 retention, session length, LTV) and propose tuning changes or A/B tests based on what you see

  • Use AI tools to move faster: rapid prototyping, concept art, spec drafting, and research synthesis (more below)

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of mobile/web game or interaction design experience

  • iGaming/social gaming experience strongly preferred: you understand player psychology specific to these mechanics (near-misses, anticipation, loss disguised as wins) and the regulatory landscape that comes with it

  • Seniority in practice, not just title: you can take ambiguous direction, make sound design calls independently, and know when to flag something up versus when to just decide

  • Proficiency with AI tools as part of your day-to-day workflow (Figma AI features, Higgsfield or similar for concept art, ChatGPT/Claude for spec drafting and research, Cursor/Copilot if you prototype in code); we care more about judgment in using these tools than loyalty to any one of them

  • Math fluency: comfortable working in spreadsheets or simulation tools to reason about RTP, volatility, and hold, even if a dedicated math team owns final numbers

  • Strong documentation skills: you write specs that other disciplines can execute against with minimal back-and-forth

  • Data literacy: you can read a dashboard, form a hypothesis, and propose a test without someone walking you through it

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with real-money gaming compliance in specific markets (US state-by-state)

  • Background in social gaming monetization specifically

  • Familiarity with progressive jackpot or multi-game linked systems

  • Animation skills (motion design for win celebrations, transitions, UI feedback)

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
