What You’ll Do

On this team, you will:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for high-performance servers, with a focus on chassis, enclosures, heatsinks, and rack integration.
  • Create and review CAD models and drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with exceptional electrical, thermal, and systems engineers to develop cutting-edge AI/ML hardware.
  • Conduct thermal and airflow analysis to optimize cooling performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with power, signal integrity, and manufacturing engineers to ensure robust end-to-end server design.
  • Conduct failure analysis,, debug mechanical and thermal issues, documenting lessons learned and driving continuous improvement.
  • Take designs from concept to mass production while ensuring design-for-manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with ODMs and suppliers to validate prototypes, tooling, and production builds.
  • Actively participate in architectural discussions and provide insightful recommendations on server mechanical design.
  • Mentor and grow junior mechanical engineers.
Who You Are:
  • At least 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in server, rack, or data center hardware development.
  • Strong CAD expertise (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent), including parametric modeling and drafting.
  • Solid experience with sheet metal, die casting, extrusion, and plastic part design.
  • Demonstrated experience in thermal design (airflow, heat sinks, liquid cooling preferred).
  • Strong background in tolerance analysis, GD&T, and design for assembly/manufacturability.
  • Experience taking mechanical designs from concept through production, including supplier engagement.
  • Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams (electrical, thermal, manufacturing, system architects).
  • Excellent problem-solving and debug skills for complex mechanical and thermal challenges.
  • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate design decisions and tradeoffs.
  • Prior experience with structural and fluid simulations for mechanical and thermal performance validation.
  • Strong understanding of high-volume engineering design and manufacturing practices.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on server or hyperscale data center systems.
  • Familiarity with GPU/AI server architectures and large-scale rack deployments.
  • Experience working with ODM/JDM partners on mechanical designs.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards in data center server mechanics (e.g., OCP, EIA rack standards).
  • Expertise in advanced thermal solutions (e.g., direct-to-chip liquid cooling, cold plates).
  • Experience with FEA/thermal simulation tools (ANSYS, Icepak, FloTherm, or equivalent).

The base salary range for this role is $188,000 to $275,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).

Our Workplace

While we prioritize a hybrid work environment, remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office, based on role requirements for specialized skill sets. New hires will be invited to attend onboarding at one of our hubs within their first month. Teams also gather quarterly to support collaboration
