Job Title: Senior Managing Director, Head of MEDACorp

Reports to: President of MEDACorp / Director of Research

Location: Boston

We are seeking a physician or medical academic who is interested in exploring a new career path – managing a KOL consultancy network for Leerink Partners and its clients.  The role will be dynamic and multi-faceted, including leading teams, building formal KOL networks, advising our client-facing professionals on how the product can advance the strategic priorities of the firm.

Job Description:

The Head of MEDACorp is a healthcare focused, client-facing manager serving as the leader and primary manager of MEDACorp.  Setting strategy will be paramount, as well as reviewing and managing MEDACorp’s day-to-day operations, which includes management and supervision of the consultant liaison and market research staff.  In addition to managing the operations of the business, seeking new consultants to broaden our reach and new sources of revenue will be key to the success of the role. 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute MEDACorp’s strategic goals, which align around expanding and maintaining the network, developing additional content offerings inside MEDACorp, and providing internal consultant support for the firm’s growth goals.
  • Ability to interact, plan, work and implement product-focused directives with other senior department leaders.
  • Be aware of, and in pursuit of opportunities for business growth including new business and enhanced cultivation of MEDACorp network including:
  • New product development
  • Enhance market research including outsourcing

Client Responsibilities – Internal and External:

  • Manage the consultant liaison and market research staff day to day which includes client communications (internal and external), high level decision making, conflict resolution and compliance on client deliverables and revenue review
  • Act as primary point person for all internal and external client issues.
  • Review all major deliverables to internal and external clients to ensure quality standards and compliance requirements are being met.
  • Set the firm’s agenda for Healthcare policy and engagement with senior leadership

Management / Operational Responsibilities:

  • Substantially enhance and develop our network in key non-physician areas (for example, senior decision makers in hospitals, laboratories, physician practice management companies, health insurers, health brokers, CROs, CDMOs, etc.)
  • Oversee and manage the network of external consultants.
  • Manage the consultant liaison and market research staff day to day which includes client communications (internal and external), high level decision making, conflict resolution and compliance on client deliverables and revenue review, including:
  • Act as primary point person for all internal and external clients issues.
  • Review all major deliverables to internal and external clients to ensure quality standards and compliance requirements are being met. 
  • Manage budget and forecast trends for all MEDACorp business lines.
  • Approves and manages all budgetary issues.
  • Interview, recruit and hire new staff as necessary as well as manage team compensation.
  • Work closely with the project teams and provide regular two-way communication between the client and team, to provide strong team representation and client expectations. 
  • Create a cohesive team approach to maintain a continuous knowledge of project status and relevant opportunities that exist. 
  • Help to build an IT plan in line with greater knowledge automation.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • MD, PhD., or related higher degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build advisory networks, either formally or informally
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing and supervising staff of ten (10) or more.
  • Motivated, goal oriented, persistent and skilled negotiator
  • Team player and high level of initiative
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
  • Technical competence (understands software, hardware, networks etc.)
  • Significant experience with healthcare/life sciences is essential to success in the role
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills and initiative
  • Ability to interact professionally with internal senior management and MEDACorp group is required
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Use of discretion with respect to privileged information
