What Work You Will be Responsible For:    

  • Represent clients before the IRS including examinations, appeals and post-appeals mediation.  

  • Assist with responding to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments 

  • Prepare appeals protests and represent clients before the IRS Independent Office of Appeals 

  • Prepare private letter ruling relief requests and communicate with IRS National Office 

  • Assist with voluntary disclosures to the IRS of address inadvertent compliance matters and penalty abatement requests. 

  • Represent clients with collection matters including Installment Agreements, Offers in Compromise and Collection Due Process Hearings  

  • Assist with training programs and thought leadership publications  

  • Mentoring staff     

  

  

Basic Qualifications:    

  • JD is required

  • 8+ years of experience performing technical tax research and representing clients in tax controversies before the IRS. 

  

  

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:   

  • LL.M or Master’s in Taxation  

  • Judicial clerkship or other government experience and/or accounting background 

  • Strong communication skills.

For NYC and California, the expected salary range for this position is between

120000

and

200000

The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
