As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms organization, you will play a pivotal leadership role by offering technical coaching and advisory support to multiple technical teams. You will also be responsible for anticipating the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm.
Job responsibilities
- Provides overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
- Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
- Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders, including cloud platform engineering teams to enable the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable applications on the cloud
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting and utilize a creative approach to devise solutions and resolve complex technical challenges
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Influences peers and thought leaders to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Experience leading teams of technologists while working at code-level in Python, Azure SDK, and proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Experience with Azure services (Storage, Compute, Integration, IAM, Network)
- Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and practical Azure cloud-native experience
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods, including CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins and Spinnaker
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Experience with Azure policy writing, testing , knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments, and a strong understanding of Azure policies and governance
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Understanding of Azure AI services is a plus
- In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
