We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting to lead the planning, analysis, and optimization of billing, accounts receivable (AR), revenue streams, and technical accounting policies, ensuring compliance with GAAP across multiple business units. This role will oversee the company’s revenue recognition process and policies, revenue forecasting, and reporting, while driving revenue growth through data-driven insights. The Senior Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams—such as Legal, RevOps, Operations and FP&A —to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition, adherence to GAAP accounting policies, and the strategic planning of new or updated product offerings to maximize profitability and market share.
Responsibilities:
- AR & Revenue Reporting and Analytics: Oversee the company’s billing, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and reporting processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and variance analysis. Provide detailed insights into trends, variances, and opportunities for growth, delivering actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with RevOps, Finance, FP&A, and Operations teams to ensure alignment between revenue management strategies and business objectives. Collaborate on promotional campaigns, pricing initiatives, and product changes.
- Revenue Optimization: Identify and implement strategies to optimize revenue recognition timing and accuracy. Leverage data analysis to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and track success.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate current billing, AR management, revenue, and technical accounting processes and systems, proposing improvements where needed. Work to streamline operations for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Timely Close in O2C Cycle: Manage and ensure a timely and accurate close of the Order-to-Cash (O2C) cycle, including reconciliations and reporting to support financial close deadlines.
- Technical Accounting: Stay up to date on the latest FASB accounting pronouncements and regulatory changes. Assess and provide guidance on the accounting implications of new and existing commercial arrangements, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies and GAAP. Collaborate closely with management, Finance leadership, and auditors to analyze the potential impact of new standards on the business and implement necessary changes in a timely manner to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Accounts Receivable and revenue analysts, providing guidance and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, Certified Revenue Management, Masters in Accounting, MBA) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years in revenue management, technical accounting, or full-cycle accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior role. Experience in AgTech, FinTech, or SaaS industry preferred. High-growth startup business experience or experience working with PEG preferred.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis, revenue recognition, and GAAP compliance.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with revenue management software, CRM, and ERP systems (NetSuite and SFDC highly preferred).
- Expertise in complex billing, AR, and revenue optimization techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an agile manner, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of revenue management, financial reporting, and business strategy.
