Position SummaryVesalius Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager, Program Management to drive operational excellence across our early-stage research and development programs. This role will provide critical program management leadership and cross-functional coordination to ensure the timely and efficient advancement of our therapeutic portfolio.
Reporting to the SVP of Strategy, the ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial biotech environment and bring experience managing cross-functional drug discovery or translational biology programs. This is a high-visibility role requiring both strategic thinking and strong execution capabilities.
Program Planning & Execution
- Create and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Identify critical path activities and proactively manage risks and dependencies.
- Track and monitor key milestones and decision points to drive delivery of project objectives.
- Coordinate with finance and project teams to track program budget and forecasts
Team Leadership & Communication
- Effectively communicate with team members, senior leaders and key stakeholders on the status, objectives, risks, and mitigation plans associated with projects.
- Ensure team members are aware of integrated project timelines and provide timely updates of status and cross-functional impact.
- Facilitate team meetings using project management best practices/tools to drive cross-functional communication, timely and effective decision making, and successful execution of project objectives.
- Organize and maintain team communications including meeting agendas, minutes, decision logs, dashboards, tasks lists, and risk analyses/mitigation strategies.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within project teams.
Operational Excellence
- Develop and implement tools, best practices, and standardized templates for efficient project execution and communication.
- Act as a central point of contact for cross-functional coordination, helping to streamline execution and manage complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering, or a related field is required; advanced degree (MS, PhD, MBA) and/or PMP certification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3 years in a program or project management role.
- Proven track record in early-stage R&D program execution, ideally involving genomics, data-driven discovery, or platform technologies.
- Deep understanding of the drug discovery and development process, particularly translational biology and preclinical research.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills with an ability to synthesize complex information.
- Proficiency in program management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent) and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams).
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt quickly and drive initiatives in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Strong interpersonal and influence skills, with a passion for building and supporting high-performing teams.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled in driving clarity and alignment among cross-functional stakeholders.
- A team player who thrives on collaboration and shared success.
