The Senior Manager, Product Operations Manager is the central owner of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) standards, governance, and cross-functional operating mechanisms for the CVS Media Exchange (CMX) product portfolio. This role ensures that CMX teams operate with consistency, predictability, and operational rigor as the business scales.

As the enterprise steward of product operations, you will drive the systems, frameworks, and routines that enable strong decision-making, clear accountability, and seamless cross-team execution. You will serve as a critical partner to Product Directors, Engineering, GTM, and COE teams—balancing discipline with adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires a leader who excels at influence without authority, brings strong operational instincts, anticipates risks, and provides clarity amid ambiguity. You will also mentor Product Operations Specialists and elevate operational excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Strategy & Product Lifecycle Governance

  • Own and evolve CMX’s product lifecycle methodologies, standards, tooling, templates, and quality controls.
  • Ensure CMX-wide alignment on product discovery, development, GTM, launch, and post-launch monitoring, as well as product escalations.
  • Govern decision gates, readiness assessments, and portfolio-level quality metrics, serving as the record keeper for end-to-end product lifecycle compliance.

Portfolio-Level Coordination, Reporting & Escalation Management

  • Maintain a single source of truth for CMX product portfolio health, including dashboards, insights, risks, and resource signals.
  • Proactively identify cross-team risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, driving timely resolution.
  • Proactively communicate risks and bottlenecks to relevant cross-functional stakeholders and Leadership team.
  • Facilitate portfolio-wide operational cadences (Quarterly/Annual planning, resource reviews, decision forums, GTM sequencing).

Cross-Functional Alignment & Program Leadership

  • Partner with Product Directors, Engineering, Data, GTM, COEs, and Operations to ensure lifecycle adherence and scalable execution.
  • Ensure COE partners maintain documented GTM processes that align with CMX Product Operations standards.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives impacting multiple product lines (e.g., governance enhancements, new lifecycle frameworks, enterprise onboarding to new tools).

Change Management & Adoption

  • Drive organizational adoption of lifecycle processes, templates, and operating mechanisms.
  • Develop training, guides, and communication plans to ensure consistent understanding across teams.
  • Act as a champion for operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Mentor Product Operations Specialists; raise operational maturity across product teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, openness, transparency, and predictable delivery.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
