THE ROLE: Sr. Manager – Merchandise Strategy & Analytics

We’re looking for…

We are seeking a Sr. Manager to lead our merchandising efforts by identifying opportunities and implementing strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives. In this role you will establish strategic goals and create actionable plans for the merchandising organization.  You'll leverage data to pinpoint key business opportunities, support growth, and enhance efficiency.  By analyzing trends, the competitive landscape, and internal performance metrics, you'll provide valuable insights and recommendations to senior leadership, guiding decision-making and strategic planning. Additionally, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive execution of merchandising strategies and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the broader team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategy Development:
    • Lead the development and execution of merchandising strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to maximize growth and profitability by identifying key business opportunities, setting strategic goals, and creating actionable plans.
    • Conduct comprehensive analysis of complex data sets and trends, competitive landscape, and internal performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership, guiding decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Results Driven:
    • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the success of merchandising strategies.
    • Exhibit broad scale decision quality and accountability for impact.  Lead by example and set high standards for deliverables while taking accountability for team decisions.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of merchandising strategies, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
    • Regularly review and report on the progress of strategic initiatives to ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Lead & contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Leadership
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the merchandising team and cross-functionally.
    • Seek out opportunities to broaden and share skill set and knowledge to positively impact company.
    • Develop a team with strong ability to identify and articulate short- and long-term strategies supported by sound financial plan.
    • Encourage and empower the team to find innovative solutions to challenges.
    • Demonstrate industry curiosity and act as a thought leader with the ability to influence future strategies.
  • Communication
    • Build and foster effective relationships and collaborate closely with Merchandising, Planning, Programing and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of Merchandising strategies to support overall business objectives.
    • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

  • 7+ years of experience in merchandise planning/buying, with at least 3 years’ experience in leadership roles
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail industry trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Tableau or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Analytics preferred
  • E-commerce, Off Price and Multi brand retail experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Expected Base Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000

Rue Gilt Groupe is committed to providing Associates with equal pay for equal work and carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to, prior experience, education, certification(s), license(s), skills and expertise, location, internal equity, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need. Our goal is to support, reward and compensate the entire individual. Depending on role eligibility, your offer may also include bonus/commission, stock options, 401(k) participation, paid time off, medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance. Therefore, final offer amounts may vary from the amount stated.
