Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Manager of Marketing Activation serves as the strategic marketing partner to designated business units and practice groups, translating business priorities, growth objectives and market opportunities into integrated marketing strategies and measurable initiatives.

While serving as a crucial part of a broader digital and content marketing team, this position will be assigned a focused portfolio of legal practices and offerings to support. The individual will develop a nuanced understanding of the firm’s capabilities and related client needs, market dynamics, competitive positioning and business development goals and, based on those learnings, create and execute comprehensive marketing plans—defining marketing strategies, positioning, messaging, campaigns and measurement frameworks—to drive targeted awareness, engagement and revenue growth efforts.

Operating as part of an integrated growth team, this role serves as the marketing counterpart to allocated business development strategy professionals. The business development team will focus on client opportunities, relationship development, pursuits and pipeline growth; the Senior Manager of Marketing Activation is responsible for developing the strategic marketing plans that support those objectives. Together, these professionals provide coordinated, business-focused support to practice and industry leadership.

The ideal candidate is strategic, proactive, intellectually curious, data-driven, and confident advising senior stakeholders. They are comfortable challenging assumptions, advocating for informed recommendations, and aligning individual practice priorities with broader firm objectives to maximize impact and engagement across channels and audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the lead marketing strategist for assigned business units and practice groups.
  • Develop a deep understanding of practice priorities, business development objectives, client targets, market trends, and competitive dynamics.
  • Partner with practice and firm leadership to identify growth opportunities and translate business goals into actionable marketing strategies, regularly communicating performance, progress, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop differentiated positioning, value propositions, and key messages for practices, industries, services, and strategic initiatives.
  • Advise practice leaders on market positioning, visibility strategies, audience engagement, and growth-focused marketing opportunities.
  • Create and maintain annual and multi-year marketing plans aligned with practice, industry, and firm priorities.
  • Facilitate strategic planning discussions and help stakeholders prioritize marketing investments and initiatives.
  • Establish KPIs and success metrics aligned with business and marketing objectives and develop measurement frameworks that evaluate effectiveness.
  • Collaborate effectively across practices and disciplines to ensure firmwide marketing and business development efforts are clear, aligned, and mutually reinforcing.
  • Contribute to the evolution of marketing best practices, processes, and strategic capabilities across the firm.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience developing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns tied to measurable business outcomes, ideally in a professional services or similarly complex matrixed environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of marketing planning, audience segmentation, positioning, messaging, and campaign development, and experience using data and analytics to evaluate performance and inform decision-making.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

The expected salary range for this position is $155,000 - $210,000.  Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skill set, and geographic location.

Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.
