Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Creative & Design leads a multidisciplinary design team supporting Aetna Marketing. This role manages and mentors designers, enforces brand standards, and leverages AI and automation to improve quality and accelerate delivery. The position partners with stakeholders and leadership to deliver strategic, high-visibility creative solutions that advance business objectives. With content demands increasing, the ideal candidate will lead the development and deployment of creative assets that support a forward-thinking, tech-driven approach to AI and automation.
As a hands-on creative lead, the Senior Manager develops marketing materials aligned with the Aetna brand across print and digital channels, including emails, banner ads, landing pages, videos, flyers, and sales collateral. The role combines creative execution, technical proficiency, and team leadership to produce impactful, compliant deliverables.
The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in design, innovation, and efficiency, fostering continuous learning and best practices. This leader drives creative team processes, ensuring the right talent, tools, and systems are in place for success. Strong creative judgment and a commitment to excellence guide the team in delivering exceptional work across all mediums.
Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional design experience in an in-house agency, marketing organization, or creative studio.
  • Expertise in digital-first and print design, including responsive layouts and press-ready collateral.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
  • Experience using Adobe Workfront (or similar) for workflow management.
  • Working knowledge of AI and automation tools (Adobe Firefly, Microsoft Copilot, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for digital production and developer collaboration.
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring creative teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in healthcare marketing or other regulated industries.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and a service-oriented mindset across teams.
  • Strong leadership skills in coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ability to provide strategic creative guidance and analyze deliverable metrics for continuous improvement.
     

Preferred Qualifications

•    Superior knowledge of all print, digital, video, and web standards and requirements.
•    Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud suite, particularly Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Figma and Adobe After Effects, Premiere, and Animate are a plus.
•    Solid understanding of presentation-layer code, including HTML(5) and CSS.
•    Ability to build motion graphics.
•    Mastery in conceptual design, user interface design, responsive design, and 
user-centered design.
•    Strong expertise with email marketing.
•    Experience working in project management tools (preferably Workfront)
•    Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to successfully take digital projects through their full life cycle — from concept to launch.
•    Strong detail orientation with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality, and a critical eye for design aesthetics.
•    Strong understanding of usability and accessibility best practices.
•    Ability to establish visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and color effectively.
•    Skilled in InDesign master pages, styles, and multi-page document setup.
•    Proficiency in responsive digital design for email, web, and mobile.
•    Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility standards.
•    Ability to perform image retouching and color correction for print fidelity.
•    Expertise in print production, prepress setup, color management (CMYK and spot), and vendor collaboration.

•    Ability to leverage AI for creative ideation, design variation, and workflow automation.
•    Commitment to learning and ensuring team is maximizing emerging tools and technologies.
•    Strong focus on efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
•    Experience developing templates, documentation, and scalable design systems.
•    Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve speed to market.

•    Motivates and mentors team members, fostering innovation and accountability.
•    Manages multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•    Communicates effectively with peers, leadership, and stakeholders.
•    Balances creativity with operational excellence and brand governance.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$82,940.00 - $182,549.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
