Position Overview

Are you an experienced Competitive Intelligence leader with a proven track record of designing and executing robust B2B competitive intelligence programs and enabling CI platforms across the enterprise? Do you excel at translating complex competitive data and insights into actionable strategic recommendations that drive business growth and competitive advantage? If so, Iron Mountain is seeking a Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence to play a pivotal role in informing our growth strategy, which relies on winning new customer segments and deepening relationships with existing ones.

This position is a key member of the Global Marketing team, responsible for developing and managing competitive intelligence initiatives that deliver critical insights to guide strategic decision-making. The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence will act as a strategic resource, partnering closely with leadership to execute competitive intelligence programs that fuel growth by identifying competitive threats and opportunities, optimizing product development against competitor offerings, and enhancing go-to-market strategies.

This role will require a proactive and systematic approach to building a competitive intelligence Center of Excellence that provides best practice CI programs and tools across all Iron Mountain business units.  The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence will lead the entire competitive intelligence lifecycle and a small team of analysts. This work will include: defining programmatic offerings, managing research platforms, overseeing data collection (both primary and secondary), performing advanced analytics, and synthesizing findings into clear, impactful business recommendations. This individual will possess exceptional analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills, capable of building strong collaborative relationships with senior executives, product managers, sales leaders, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across assigned business units and functional areas (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Product, Strategy). Develop a deep understanding of their business models, strategic priorities, GTM mechanics, and key challenges related to competitive dynamics.

  • Identify critical competitive information gaps and define research objectives/programs that support strategic planning, market entry, product innovation, and competitive positioning.

  • Design and lead the execution of competitive intelligence programs (e.g., win/loss analysis, competitive landscape assessments, competitive product analysis, pricing intelligence, competitive messaging and positioning). Recommend and apply best-practice competitive intelligence methodologies.

  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to competitive intelligence data, proprietary business data, and external market intelligence to generate deep insights into market dynamics, competitive behavior, competitive strategies, and drivers of business performance. Identify emerging threats, unmet needs, and opportunities for differentiation and growth.

  • Develop compelling, data-driven narratives and present competitive intelligence findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams in a clear, concise, and actionable manner. Facilitate workshops and discussions to translate insights into strategic initiatives and operational improvements.

  • Contribute to new product development and go-to-market (GTM) strategy by serving as the internal expert on competitive dynamics and customer needs, ensuring product roadmaps and GTM plans are informed by robust competitive insights.

  • Contribute to maturing the Competitive Intelligence function's operational standards, processes, and policies to scale capabilities, optimize efficiency, and enhance the strategic impact of competitive insights across the organization, including the enablement and adoption of CI platforms.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in business, marketing, market research, economics, statistics, or related fields.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a B2B competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy, or similar analytical role within a complex enterprise or a leading market research agency.

  • Subject matter expertise in B2B competitive intelligence methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), statistical analysis, and data visualization. Professional market research or competitive intelligence certification (e.g., SCIP) is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of best-practice competitive intelligence techniques and data analytics methods, including use of AI.

  • Superior consulting and advisory skills; ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex business problems, and make thoughtful, data-backed recommendations.

  • Solid project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple competitive intelligence projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and ensure accountability for deliverables from all project stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage external vendor partners in on-time, on-budget, on-point execution of competitive intelligence projects.

  • Ability to synthesize complex data analysis and competitive intelligence findings into strategic insights and practical, actionable business recommendations.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, projecting professionalism and credibility to connect with and influence mid and senior management.

  • Experience with an enterprise competitive intelligence platform (e.g., Contify, Crayon, Klue, Alphasense) and experience with CI platform enablement across a diverse global enterprise.

  • Additional consideration for experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Google Looker, Tableau) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).

Reasonably expected salary range: $104,800.00 - $139,700.00
