The Role:

The Senior Manager of BaseCamp Business Development will drive the growth of the company’s Cell and Gene Therapy and mRNA service offerings by identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical organizations. This role will focus on building and nurturing relationships with key decision-makers, managing the end-to-end sales process, from initial prospecting and proposal generation through negotiation and contract closure, and working closely with internal teams to align sales strategy, marketing, and operational execution. The Senior Manager will maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, provide regular status updates to senior leadership, and collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across Commercial Operations, Legal, Finance, and Technical Services to ensure seamless delivery of client solutions and support BaseCamp's business development objectives.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Prospect biotech and pharmaceutical companies seeking cell therapy, viral vector and mRNA process development and manufacturing partnerships that fit the ElevateBio BaseCamp strategic goals and objectives.
  • Seek and establish connections with key decision makers and influencers with companies that could work with ElevateBio BaseCamp
  • Work closely with the BD team on a creating and executing the BaseCamp sales strategy to generate a strong pipeline of opportunities for BaseCamp to help meet yearly sales targets
  • Understand Cell & Gene Therapy, mRNA market dynamics and funding landscape
  • Create and execute territory sales plan to drive new leads & secure partnerships
  • Continuous updates of opportunities in ElevateBio’s CRM platform
  • Provide frequent report outs of opportunity funnel and pipeline to Senior Leadership
  • Lead Client visits to ElevateBio BaseCamp by leveraging appropriate Technical Leads at Base-Camp
  • Manage the RFP process, ensuring proposals are generated and submitted to potential clients are accurate and on time
  • Assist in the negotiation process and close new business opportunities, working collaboratively with the Commercial Operations, Legal and Finance teams.
  • Work in collaboration with Marketing Operations and Communications teams to support conference, branding, messaging, and website.
  • Attend national and local conferences to help market ElevateBio’s capabilities, seek new leads & partnership opportunities

Requirements:

  • An established network of influencers in the cell and gene therapy and biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum BSc degree in Life Sciences with 6-8 years previous experience in the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, CMO, CDMO or related industries.
  • Strong commercial skills with MBA or professional certification or proved experience in sales or key account manager roles strongly preferred.
  • A solid understanding of cell and gene therapy and mRNA for clinical and commercial. Specifically, CMC operations - process development, regulatory, manufacturing, analytics and supply chain.
  • Contract negotiation skills gained through involvement in business-to-business relationships
  • Willingness to travel ~20-30% of time
  • Familiarity with Hubspot or other customer management system
  • Ambitious, energetic, and dedicated to delivering objectives/targets while keeping enduring partnerships in mind.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, relationship, influence, and networking skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to partners
  • Solid understanding of business, negotiation and financial fundamentals.
  • Preference for applicants to reside in either WA, OR, CA, AZ, TX or CO
