We are seeking a results-driven and technically proficient Senior Manager of Analytics to lead a high-performing team of analysts, establish best practices for data visualization and analytics workflows, and play a critical role in delivering actionable insights across the organization. This role is a blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on technical expertise, with a strong focus on empowering decision-making through data.

This position requires a balance of technical depth, business acumen, and people management skills. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about modern data practices with a desire to provide insights above all else to drive Mimecast’s future results.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and mentor a small team of analysts, fostering growth and professional development.
  • Define and enforce standards for data visualization in Tableau dashboards and PowerPoint presentations, ensuring clarity and consistency
  • Oversee the development and enhancement of analytics workflows, streamlining reporting processes and insight generation
  • Implement and enforce code standards (e.g., SQL style guides) to ensure alignment with the Data Engineering team
  • Partner with Data Engineering to structure the analytics dbt project using a modern, layered approach
  • Act as the primary liaison with stakeholders to translate business challenges into analytical frameworks and insights, enabling high-impact decision-making
  • Contribute directly to analytics projects, including data modeling and dbt repository maintenance, while minimizing unnecessary barriers to collaboration (e.g., excessive PR approval layers)
  • Work on strategic initiatives that influence high-visibility decisions by stakeholders at the executive level
  • Assist in preparing recurring executive reports and insights, such as key contributions to ELT presentations and quarter end reporting

What You'll Bring:

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics, data engineering, data science, or a related field, with a focus on both technical and some leadership roles
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring analytics teams is preferred
  • Expertise in Tableau, dbt, and SQL, including excellent data visualization skills and a strong understanding of modern data modeling practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical teams (e.g., Data Engineering) and business stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights in an accessible and impactful way
  • Familiarity with git workflows for analytics and experience contributing to shared repositories

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
