Under the direction of the Manager of Loss Control Services, the Senior Loss Control Consultant will provide Arbella underwriting with risk assessment for middle market accounts including analysis of more complex occupancies. The consultant will work closely with underwriting in analyzing automobile, general liability, property and workers compensation exposures for both existing insureds as well as prospective accounts. The consultant will develop risk management programs and recommendations that are effective in controlling the frequency and severity of losses for Arbella Insureds. The ideal candidate would be located in Worcester County, the Merrimack Valley, Boston Metro North or Southern NH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides underwriting with an acceptability of risk assessment for middle market accounts to expedite a profitable pricing decision.

  • Provides underwriting an analysis of exposures and controls at insured and prospective accounts in the areas of:Automobile, General Liability, Property, and Workers Compensation and develops consultative recommendations to assist in reducing the frequency/severity of insured losses.

  • Develops a service plan for insureds within assigned territory to improve their loss experience.

  • Conducts consultative surveys within an assigned territory.

  • Prepares safety analysis reports and detailed plans of action.

  • Effectively communicates with a diverse group of accounts.

  • Effectively communicates and interacts with internal departments.

  • Maintains professional qualifications.

  • Acts as a consultant to the Research and Development Department to assist in the development of new products or forms.

  • Prepares and conducts safety and loss control training sessions for a variety of customers including insureds and prospects of Arbella. On occasion may be required to provide training sessions for projects not insured by Arbella.

  • As directed, works with Arbella Claim Department to assists in the analysis and management of losses and claims.

  • Assists the Manager of Loss Control Services in designing forms, developing technical presentations and working with Arbella insureds and agents.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance loss control or corporate safety management.

  • Excellent customer service, collaboration and communication skills.
