About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, agile, and mission-driven attorney to join our legal team as Senior Legal Counsel. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role will provide strategic and day-to-day legal support across the organization, including product development, regulatory compliance, operations, data privacy, and employment matters. You’ll be a key legal advisor embedded across functions, helping us navigate the complex regulatory landscape of in-home healthcare and tele-health while enabling innovation, scale, and impact. This role will work across the company, but at the start will focus on commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, HR, and privacy matters.

You will build toward leading the company’s commercial contracting by doing the following:

  • Owning the legal review of a range of contracts including technology agreements, service agreements, clinical partnerships, and data sharing arrangements
  • Providing  legal support on MSA/SOWs, BAAs, SLAs, and product integrations - this means thinking strategically about how a deal fits into the business, and being tactical on the terms of a specific deal
  • Supporting procurement and vendor management with appropriate diligence and risk mitigation

You will be a key partner to the development of clinical and technology products and services by doing the following things at an expert level:

  • Supporting our Managed Care-related operations, including HEDIS Gap Closure and other preventive-care services;
  • Advising on telehealth and digital health regulations, including provider licensure, reimbursement, and evolving federal/state guidance;
  • Providing legal guidance on compliance with federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA, HITECH, CMS regulations, Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), Stark Law, CPOM, and related frameworks
  • You will work closely with compliance on monitoring and oversight activities, providing legal guidance on policy drafting and audit processes.

You will have the chance to support the development and commercialization of digital health tools and data products, with responsibilities such as:

  • Drafting and maintaining privacy policies, terms of use, and data governance procedures;
  • Advising on federal and state privacy issues applicable to product design, operations, and customer communications;
  • Becoming a subject matter expert on participation in Health Information Exchanges, TEFCA, and other efforts to boost the sharing of health data.

You will be the primary legal advisor to the HR organization. In that role, you will:

  • Provide guidance on employment law issues, including classification, leave, reasonable accommodation, wage and hour, and hiring practices;
  • Support HR in drafting employment policies, and conducting investigations and training;

Leadership Opportunities:

  • Be a trusted partner to leadership across business development, clinical, operations, HR, and external stakeholders, with direct working relationships with departmental leadership.
  • Help build and scale internal legal processes, contract templates, and playbooks.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel where appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school and membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 5+ years of legal experience, with at least 2+ years in-house in a startup environment
  • Deep familiarity with healthcare regulatory law, privacy/data protection, and employment law
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a product-centric, digital health, or technology-forward organization
  • Ability to independently manage complex matters, prioritize deadlines, and deliver clear, actionable advice
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and strategic counseling skills

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in a practice group focusing on healthcare regulatory, employment, and/ or privacy matters
  • Background working with payers, providers, or health-tech vendors
  • Familiarity with IP, open source, or clinical research agreements
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior attorneys or legal staff

  • 🏝️ Unlimited PTO and flexible hybrid schedule (3 days/week in-office)
  • 👶 Generous parental leave: 4 months (birthing), 2 months (partner), fully paid
  • 🍽️ Free daily lunch, stocked micro-kitchen, and coffee/tea bar
  • An opportunity to shape the legal function and strategy in a period of expansion and growth
  • High levels of visibility and influence across the company
  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
