Your Role

As Senior Legal Counsel for the US, you will join a small, high-impact, international team led by our VP Legal & General Counsel in Berlin. You will serve as the strategic partner to our North America go-to-market organization, owning legal matters across the region. While your primary focus is the US, you will also contribute to selected global legal initiatives in close collaboration with the broader Legal team.

Operating from the US East Coast, ideally Boston/Massachusetts, you will work closely with global stakeholders while acting with a high degree of autonomy. Your core mission is to enable commercial growth while protecting the company through pragmatic risk assessment, regulatory oversight, and business-focused legal guidance. You will lead complex commercial negotiations, support compliance efforts in the region, and serve as a trusted advisor to Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and leadership.

This is a senior individual contributor role for a commercially minded lawyer who combines strong legal judgment with business orientation and thrives in a fast-scaling, cross-border environment.

The base salary range for this position is $150,000–$170,000, with a target annual bonus of 10%, resulting in a total target compensation range of $165,000–$187,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s scope.

Your Impact

  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex B2B agreements, including customer, partner, supplier, SaaS, and data processing agreements
  • Act as the primary legal partner to North America go-to-market teams, balancing commercial objectives with thoughtful risk mitigation
  • Drive US regulatory compliance initiatives and oversee corporate governance matters for the company’s US entity
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop practical mitigation strategies across commercial and operational topics
  • Contribute to scalable legal templates, playbooks, and internal knowledge sharing to improve efficiency and consistency

Your Skills

  • US-qualified lawyer with active bar admission and demonstrated ownership of complex commercial contracting in a B2B environment
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate legal and regulatory considerations into practical, business-focused solutions
  • Experience leading high-stakes negotiations and advising senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • Solid understanding of US regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to commercial and tech environments
  • High level of accountability, adaptability, and relationship-building skills in a cross-functional, international setting

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
