The Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect is a pre-sales customer-facing enterprise domain expert applying broad technical skills, with industry knowledge and deep business acumen, supporting sales teams in developing Salesforce value propositions that align to our customers’ business strategies on digital transformation and cloud adoption. The Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect is a subject matter expert in one or more categories that may include: business strategy, application architecture, data & information, integration, security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, distributed platforms, mobile, and analytics. With a solid blend of technical and sales skills, the Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect uses a consultative approach to understand business and technical requirements.The Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect determines which Salesforce and third party technologies to leverage in customer driven architectures, based upon product knowledge, industry experience, industry standard integration frameworks and Salesforce Architecture methodologies.With a broad IT background including solution architecture, technical architecture, software/systems engineering, cloud computing, and governance, the Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect leads key discussions and considerations around change programs from both a business and technical perspective.

The Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect helps the sales teams develop specific, repeatable propositions and go to market strategies.The Salesforce Cloud Technical Architect also participates in the delivery of solution best practices, reference architectures, educational sessions and industry summits to existing customers, partners and to internal audiences.
 

Job Description

  • Work with customers to address and solve a wide variety of technical challenges, meshing the agile capabilities of the Salesforce Platform and portfolio solutions with the technologies the customer already has in place.

  • Develop relationships with customer IT/technical stakeholders, and help them to understand how the Salesforce platform fits into their overall technology strategy.

  • Act as a trusted advisor, and guide customers towards solutions that have the greatest likelihood of long-term success.

  • Hone your own knowledge of the Salesforce product suite through hands-on training and exploration in the areas of customization, integration, and delivery, and support our account-aligned solution engineers when this deeper level of expertise is needed to solve customer challenges. 

  • Evangelize the value proposition, benefits, and advantages, of the Salesforce Platform including Data Cloud, Agentforce, AI. High level familiarity with Tableau, Mulesoft, Slack and more is a bonus. Educate customers and peers on the ways to solution using the salesforce product suite.

  • Strong understanding of AI and Data architecture principles and the competitive landscape.

  • Understand and advise on the broad ecosystem of ISV and partner solutions that cooperate and integrate with Salesforce.

  • Guide deal strategy by providing insight into the technical buyer, and craft influence strategies that resonate with this audience.

  • Keep current with both partner and competitive technologies in order to put proposed solutions into the context of the broader technology landscape.

  • Highlight insights from customer conversations with our product teams to help ensure we are moving in the direction of market needs.

  • Share your knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned with the broader solution engineering teams to multiply the impact of your work.

  • Continue to develop yourself as a technologist and as a presales professional in a supportive, collaborative team environment.

Baseline Requirements

  • Ability to understand business & IT department requirements, translate those business needs into a compelling solution, and present your recommendations to executive, technical, and business audiences.

  • Exceptional executive presence and proven ability to articulate complex topics effectively to both C-suite leaders and technical practitioners.

  • Deep knowledge of enterprise software applications and their delivery, including several of the following:   

  • Some coding experience and a willingness to work with code (Apex, Node, Go, R, Java or C#, JavaScript, python, Ruby, etc.)   

  • Database and data management fundamentals   

  • Application lifecycle management   

  • Integration principles and tools   

  • Enterprise data management tools and methods   

  • Process orchestration   

  • Principles of network, application, and information security

  • Experience with machine learning concepts (predictive and generative AI), plus the ability to communicate value to diverse audiences.

  • Deeply research, evaluate, and experiment with emerging AI and Data technologies, distilling practical, hands-on knowledge and patterns to enable internal teams and guide customer solutions.

  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication and relationship skills.

  • Strategic thinker, thought leadership and comfort communicating with executive audiences.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to support multiple, concurrent projects.

  • Lifelong learner, inquisitive, practical, and passionate about technology and sharing knowledge.

  • Willing and able to travel domestically.

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $124,670 - $198,170 annually There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. In California and New York, and select cities in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington DC, the base pay range for this role in those locations is $137,060 - $217,980 per year. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
