At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Launch team operates at the intersection of every major aspect of Terran R, from stages and payloads to ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment. The Cape is the only place where you see it all come together, offering a level of exposure and responsibility unmatched elsewhere in the program. This is where first flights happen, where history is built on top of history, and where the scale of what's underway is unlike anything in modern aerospace. The mission stays the same, but the work evolves with every milestone: from first launch to reuse, high-cadence operations, and beyond. If you're looking to define what's next in space launch and write a new playbook, not just repeat what’s already been done, this is where it happens.

About the Role:

  • Perform dimensional inspections and precision tooling builds using Verisurf and laser trackers (Leica, Faro, or API) for large-scale launch and ground support assemblies.
  • Support installation, alignment, and calibration of complex tools and systems (such as rail systems, launch pad infrastructure, and integration tooling).
  • Conduct best-fit alignments, datum re-establishment, and profile analyses to verify engineering design intent and structural integrity.
  • Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support build strategies, tolerance studies, inspection sequencing, and issue resolution.
  • Execute precision drilling, dowelling, epoxy pours, and leveling for anchoring, fixture setup, and heavy tooling integration while maintaining adherence to safety procedures.
  • Prepare detailed dimensional reports and maintain compliance with company and regulatory safety standards in a production environment.

About You:

  • 7+ years of experience with laser trackers, toolmaking, aerospace assembly, or large-scale metrology operations, and 5+ years using Verisurf X.
  • Proficiency in GD&T interpretation, engineering drawings/models, and model-based inspection workflows for large-format assemblies.
  • Experience with setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of metrology equipment and familiarity with manufacturing and assembly integration processes.
  • Experience in fixture installation, leveling, and alignment of complex tooling and structural components.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to working in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% annually to support site deployment, installation, and field alignment operations.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience supporting field-based alignment work.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM or Mastercam for data analysis and manufacturing support.
  • OSHA/MSHA certifications and familiarity with safety procedures for rigging and heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience mentoring or training technicians in metrology, Verisurf workflows, and large-scale alignment principles.

Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on-site work at our government partner location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
