Description

SoftBank Robotics America is looking for a hands-on IT Systems Administrator to own day-to-day IT operations for our ~60-person organization. This is a foundational role for someone who takes pride in keeping IT running smoothly, communicates well with non-technical teammates, and is curious about how tools and workflows can be made smarter over time.

You will be the primary IT resource for our team, supporting everything from laptop setup and account provisioning to SaaS administration and vendor management. Beyond the day-to-day, you will have the opportunity to partner with our Product and Engineering team on process improvements and light automation work as our internal tooling continues to evolve.

This role operates within a global IT structure. While you will be the primary IT resource for SBRA, you will work closely with our corporate IT team based in Japan who manage globally standardized tools and infrastructure. Strong communication and relationship-building across time zones is an important part of this role.

This role is based in Boston in a hybrid capacity and reports to the Director of Technical Product and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary IT support contact for all employees via Slack, Teams, Outlook, Jira, Notion, and direct in-person support
  • Support a Mac-first environment including laptop configuration, imaging, wiping, repurposing, shipping, and lifecycle management
  • Partner with HR on onboarding and offboarding workflows including device setup, account provisioning, access removal, and equipment logistics
  • Administer and support core SaaS tools such as Okta, Concur, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, Notion, Jira, and ChatGPT Business
  • Manage user access, permissions, and provisioning across SBRA-managed platforms, in coordination with Global IT
  • Manage external user access for contractors and agency partners across relevant platforms
  • Coordinate with our Global IT team in Japan for escalations, globally managed systems, and security issues
  • Maintain IT documentation including SOPs, asset inventory, tool inventory, and architecture diagrams
  • Manage vendor relationships including renewals, license optimization, and cost controls
  • Partner with Finance on IT budget management, vendor invoices, and expense reporting
  • Partner with Product & Engineering on process improvements and light automation work

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations
  • Strong experience supporting Mac environments with some PC exposure
  • Familiarity with identity and access management platforms
  • Experience administering and configuring SaaS tools across a distributed workforce
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, and networking
  • Proven ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and SaaS contracts
  • Experience collaborating with global or remote IT teams
  • Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented approach
  • Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations
  • Familiarity with automation or workflow tools
  • Interest in how AI and automation can improve internal operations
  • Experience as a sole IT resource in a fast-moving environment

What Success Looks Like

  • Employees receive fast, reliable, and professional IT support with minimal disruption to their work
  • Onboarding and offboarding are smooth, well-documented, and repeatable
  • Core IT processes are maintained, improved upon, and increasingly self-sufficient
  • The internal tool stack is well-maintained, cost-efficient, and up to date
