This Senior IT Business Systems Analyst role at John Hancock / Manulife is with the US Finance technology team. It is a specialized position focusing on actuarial-valuation analysis and initiative delivery. As a liaison between actuaries, policy admin systems, Manulife centralized valuation platform and Data & Reporting stewards.

Office location: Toronto - Canada (preferred) or Boston - USA (alternative)

Work arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days from home). Remote working option is not available.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Communication and Prioritization: Engage with various stakeholders to identify, solve problems, and prioritize work effectively.

  • Requirements Documentation: Interpret and document business and functional requirements clearly and comprehensively.

  • ETL Validation: Conduct hands-on ETL validation across multiple platforms, including Mainframe, Python, Informatica, and SQL Server.

  • Feature Enhancements: Implement feature additions for existing policy blocks.

  • Policy Admin Understanding: Develop a thorough understanding of the operating models and structures of over six policy admin platforms.

  • System Integration: Facilitate the ingestion of new policy admin data into valuation systems.

  • Specification Mapping: Create and maintain source-to-target specification mappings for the valuation platform.

  • Timely Delivery: Ensure timely delivery of solutions, especially during quarter-end periods.

  • Ad-hoc Support: Provide support for data-related issues as they arise.

  • Initiative Participation: Actively participate in large, upcoming initiatives.

  • Cross-functional Liaison: Serve as a liaison between actuarial, policy admin, and multiple technology teams to ensure smooth communication and project progress.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience: 10-15 years of experience in the financial services industry.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking to develop effective solutions.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of insurance, reinsurance, and valuation functions.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of SQL and proficiency with reporting tools such as Power BI and Qlik. Working knowledge of Mainframe, Python, Informatica, and SQL Server.

  • Stakeholder Management: Proven skills in managing stakeholder relationships effectively.

  • Agile Experience: Experience in managing and delivering projects within an Agile framework.

  • Jira Proficiency: Strong familiarity with Jira, including the ability to translate business and user requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience from large financial Organization (s) is highly desired but not a must have.

Salary range is expected to be between

$94,220.00 CAD - $174,980.00 CAD
