At Tilt (formerly Empower), we see a side of people that traditional lenders miss. Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond outdated credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. Named among the next billion-dollar startups, we're not just changing how people access financial products — we're creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward.

The Opportunity: Senior iOS Engineer

We're looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to join our Card Spend & Engagement (CSE) team within Tilt’s Credit Card organization. As a key member of our close-knit team, you'll play a critical role in developing mobile experiences that drive post-booking usage and retention to maximize customer engagement and lifetime value for our innovative credit card products serving millions of underserved Americans.

The CSE team owns the complete post-booking customer journey - from card activation through ongoing spend engagement and retention. You'll be joining at a critical inflection point as we scale our card spending functionality and optimize the user experience across card origination, spend management, rewards, and customer support. This role exists because our scope has broadened significantly with recent organizational changes, and we need an iOS engineer dedicated to the spend domain to maintain focus and execution excellence.

Tilt is a remote-first company. We drive connectivity through regular company offsites. Travel for company offsites is expected at a minimum 2 times a year.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Feature Development: Collaborate with product managers, backend engineers, and cross-functional team members to define, design and ship new features that create customer and business value through close product and design iteration

  • Self-Directed Innovation: Take ownership of investigating optimization opportunities, conducting your own analysis, and uncovering insights that others might not be looking at

  • Data-Driven Development: Analyze user feedback, app analytics, and performance metrics to help prioritize features and improvements that drive key business KPIs

  • Quality & Performance: Participate in code reviews and minimize defects through development of automated tests, manual test validation, and fit-for-purpose architecture

  • Platform Excellence: Improve and maintain our iOS build and release process while adopting AI tooling to enhance development speed and efficiency

  • Technology Innovation: Continuously learn and adopt new iOS technologies, frameworks, and tools (e.g., SwiftUI, Combine) while exploring WWDC announcements for product opportunities

  • Technical Leadership: Drive technical excellence by establishing architectural patterns and best practices that scale with our growing user base

  • Cross-Platform Collaboration: Work closely with our .NET backend systems to deliver seamless spend experiences and support agent/operations tooling

Why You're a Great Fit
  • 5+ years developing consumer-facing iOS apps with proven track record of shipping high-quality mobile experiences

  • Experience working in Swift and iOS UI Frameworks (UIKit, SwiftUI)

Nice to haves

  • Experience with credit card, payments, or lending products

  • Knowledge of payment processing, fraud detection, or financial compliance requirements

  • Experience with A/B testing and data-driven feature development

  • Familiarity with .NET backend systems integration

  • Experience building gamification features or rewards systems

  • History of participating in beta programs or exploring cutting-edge iOS features

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get at Tilt
  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. You’ll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.

  • Competitive pay: We're big on potential, and it's reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.

  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.

  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team — we’re a team where good ideas travel quickly.

  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)

  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.

The Tilt Way

We're looking for people who chase excellence and impact. Those who stand behind their work, celebrating the wins and learning from the missteps equally. We foster an environment where every voice is valued and mutual respect is non-negotiable — brilliant jerks need not apply. We're in this together, working to expand access to fair credit and prove that people are incredible. When you join us, it's not just another day at the [virtual] office, you're helping millions of hardworking people reach better financial futures.

You’re pushing ahead in your career? We can get behind that. Join us in building the credit system that people deserve.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)

  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
