Team & Role Overview
The Putnam Investments Content team develops and positions equity investment perspectives and strategies that support business growth and client engagement across global audiences. The team partners closely with investment leadership, including the Chief Investment Officer, Director of Research, portfolio managers, and analysts, as well as business development, marketing, and corporate communications teams. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and intellectually rigorous, offering exposure to senior thought leaders, complex markets, and opportunities to deepen investment knowledge and influence brand messaging.
The Content Strategist (Senior Investment Writer) is responsible for positioning the Putnam brand and its underlying strategies across multiple internal and external audiences. Primary focus will be on written content development, including but not limited to thought leadership, blog posts, sales collateral, web, fund/market commentary. Will work closely with Putnam’s Business Development Group and Content Team members along with Putnam’s CIO, Director of Research and Investment Management and Franklin Templeton centralized teams.
How You Will Add Value
- Lead development of thought leadership content that articulates Putnam’s investment perspectives from a stock-selection viewpoint. Write “Equity Insights” -branded content aligned with key strategy themes and outlooks from the CIO, Director of Research, PMs and analysts, as well as joint pieces with senior FT thought leaders. Develop timely client responses for critical market events.
- Create and adapt content for Putnam core strategy materials, web properties, and digital channels, ensuring messages are differentiated, on-brand and aligned to key strategy and platform priorities.
- Own and execute the commentary pipeline for assigned retail and institutional strategies. Pieces will include monthly and quarterly market highlights, strategy updates, and custom narratives as needed. Collaborate with portfolio managers, Client Portfolio Managers, The Institute, FT Marketing Operations and Corporate Communications to ensure content is accurate, on-message, and consistent with firm and platform positioning.
- Provide editorial review and input on press releases and high-visibility communications to ensure clarity, consistency, and brand alignment.
- Contribute content and messaging for collateral, presentations, and video scripts that support sales, client service, and educational initiatives across channels. Provide attribution information to FT teams for retail fund annual reports.
What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role
Experience, Education & Certifications
- 8+ years’ investment writing experience within the Asset Management industry.
- Excellent investment writing and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into concise, compelling content for sophisticated professional and intermediary audiences.
- Flexible and adaptable, ability to adjust to changes in workflow and succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
- Deep familiarity with active asset management, equity and multi-asset strategies, capital markets and distribution.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels of seniority and across multiple cultures.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word and SharePoint.
- Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation Range: Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary — designed to support their well-being and recognize their time, talents, and results. Along with base compensation, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, a 401(k) plan with a generous match, and recognition rewards. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $135,000 to $185,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus, depending on location and level of relevant experience.
