This position has direct impact on internal production floor performance and execution, analyzing capital planning decisions, and improving production performance through continuous improvement initiatives under the direction of the Director of Production. This role is expected to grow into a leadership position with direct reports as the Industrial Engineering function matures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary authority on manufacturing capacity, flow, and constraints, providing data-driven input to leadership decisions on staffing, scheduling, and delivery commitments.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve capacity models for labor and equipment to support realistic production planning.
  • Conduct machine and process capacity analyses and lead improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Define, implement, and sustain standard work, labor standards, and productivity models used for costing, planning, and performance management.
  • Evaluate the operational impact of engineering changes, new products, and schedule changes, including effects on labor, equipment, tooling, inspection, and material flow.
  • Lead value stream mapping activities and identify waste, bottlenecks, and opportunities tied to measurable business
  • Accountable for the implementation of connected factory and ensuring the correct signals are being displayed (on the newer equipment that is capable)
  • Recommend and support capital investment strategies, including ROI analysis, equipment justification, and implementation support.
  • Help design and optimize manufacturing layouts, cell design, and workspace flow to improve throughput, safety, and quality with data.
  • Act as a technical focal for complex production challenges related to flow, efficiency, or capacity constraints.
  • Support new product introduction by providing labor models, capacity analysis, documentation readiness, and training requirements.
  • Develop and maintain templates, analytical tools, and visual management systems to support decision-making and standardization.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen / MSW events, with accountability for post-event execution and sustained results.
  • Identify tribal knowledge and convert it into documented standard work to improve repeatability and scalability.
  • Conduct time studies, process flow analyses, and participate in ergonomic and safety assessments.
  • Maintain labor standards used for costing, quoting, and long-term capacity planning.
  • Train, mentor, and support operators, technicians, and junior engineers; contribute to the long-term build-out of the Industrial Engineering function.
  • Partner with leadership to define future-state manufacturing strategies, including automation, staffing models, and footprint optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel; experience with VBA, SQL, Power BI, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain functions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts.
