Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Modeler for our Chelmsford, MA hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality analysis group.  This position will involve working on and leading staff in a wide range of hydraulic applications for water, wastewater or collections system projects locally, throughout the U.S., and abroad. The selected candidate will be working with some of AECOM’s foremost experts in water and wastewater distribution and plant hydraulics and will be exposed to numerous high-profile jobs throughout the country.  Work could include projects on:

  • Analysis, modeling, and design of water system distribution systems.
  • Hydraulic transient (surge) analysis.
  • Development of hydraulic profiles for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Provide design input and coordination for conveyance conduits and pipelines for state-of-the-art treatment plants.
  • Equipment sizing for various control valves, distribution chambers and outlet structures.
  • Collection system modeling for sanitary and combined systems.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Technical writing skills using strong communication skills.
  • Working with the following distribution system modeling software platforms: InfoWater, WaterGEMS, H2OMap, EPANET, SWMM / PCSWMM and InfoWorks.
  • Work with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or relational database management software (such as MS-Access, SQL Server, or Oracle)
  • Work with MS-Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Design treatment facilities, pipelines, and pumping and storage facilities and/or collection systems and combined systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree + 6 years of related experience of modeling and design of water/wastewater treatment facilities and distribution systems or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.    

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 10 years of related experience of modeling and design of water/wastewater treatment facilities and distribution systems
  • Experience leading modeling aspects of projects and/or mentoring junior staff.
  • Experience in one or more of the following hydraulic transient modeling software platforms: Hammer, InfoSurge, Impulse, WANDA.
  • Experience with marketing/proposal development specific to the preparation of technical approaches and estimated levels of effort for the modeling aspects of a project.
  • Experience with programming skills in Visual Basic, Python, C++, MatLab
  • Experience with other modeling areas (collection systems, receiving waters, CFD).
