Virta Health is on a mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives. Join us on our mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people.

As a Senior HRIS Analyst, you will play a critical role in building and scaling Virta’s people data and analytics capabilities. You’ll sit at the intersection of People, Technology, and Data—helping maintain Workday and Analytics, translating complex people data into actionable insights, and enabling leaders to make evidence-based decisions. This is a highly visible role with meaningful ownership and the opportunity to shape how people data is used across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Working under our HRIS Leader; partner with People, HRIS, and cross-functional stakeholders to support the optimization, and ongoing configuration of Workday, ensuring data integrity and scalable processes.

  • Configure enhancements and troubleshoot existing Workday configuration across HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Time Tracking, Adv Comp, and Performance.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable people analytics solutions, including reports, data visualizations, and dashboards using Workday Reporting, Dashboards, Discovery Boards, and Google App Dashboards to deliver actionable insights across the employee lifecycle and support Business Leaders and Partners.

  • Perform advanced data analysis to support workforce planning, organizational health, DEI insights, compensation, and operational decision-making.

  • Establish best practices for people data governance, documentation, and self-service analytics.

  • Audit Workday Bi-Annual Release updates to access current state impact and recommend adoption of new features and enhancements.

  • Translate business questions into clear analytical approaches and communicate findings in a way that drives action.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve overall system efficiency.

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Build a strong understanding of Virta’s People data ecosystem, Workday configuration, and existing analytics capabilities.

  • Partner with HRIS and key stakeholders to support active or upcoming Workday initiatives and identify data quality or reporting gaps.

  • Deliver early-impact dashboards or analyses that address high-priority People questions.

  • Establish trusted relationships with People leadership and cross-functional partners.

  • Identify opportunities to improve scalability, automation, and consistency in people data reporting and analysis.

Must-Haves
  • 5+ years of experience in an HRIS or People Analytics role.

  • Advanced expertise in Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Apps.

  • Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining Workday.

  • Strong technical data analysis skills and Workday Report Administrator experience, including reporting, calculated fields, dashboards, and Discovery Boards.

  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of HR data, data governance, and best practices for maintaining data integrity and reporting accuracy.

  • Experience working in a fast-growing, scaling organization.

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
