The opportunity

The Senior HR Generalist will serve as a trusted HR partner to U.S. employees and managers while owning several of the programs that shape the day-to-day employee experience. The role offers broad visibility across People Operations and the ability to strengthen the processes, resources, and programs used to support employees and managers.

Reporting to the Director of HR, you will work closely with payroll, finance, legal counsel, benefits vendors, managers, and the broader People Operations team. You will remain hands-on in the work while improving documentation, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, and providing guidance to developing HR professionals.

  • Administer U.S. health and welfare programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA, and related benefits.
  • Research and resolve complex benefits issues involving eligibility, enrollment, deductions, coverage, qualifying life events, and required corrections.
  • Manage relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, COBRA administrators, and other vendors to support accurate and timely service.
  • Partner with payroll and finance to reconcile benefits deductions, invoices, contribution files, and discrepancies across systems.
  • Support benefits renewals and lead key aspects of open enrollment, including plan implementation, employee communications, system review, and post-enrollment reconciliation.
  • Manage 401(k) administration, including eligibility, contributions, employee questions, vendor coordination, audit support, and corrections.
  • Own employee leave and workplace accommodation processes involving FMLA, ADA, parental leave, disability, workers’ compensation, and applicable state programs.
  • Guide employees and managers through documentation, benefits, accommodation, and return-to-work requirements throughout the leave process.
  • Maintain the U.S. HR and benefits compliance calendar and coordinate required filings, notices, audits, disclosures, and employee communications.
  • Monitor developments in federal, state, and local employment requirements and coordinate necessary updates to policies, systems, communications, and operating practices.
  • Draft and maintain HR policies, procedures, manager resources, employee communications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Review HR data, records, and recurring processes to identify compliance risks, resolve discrepancies, and improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide coaching and quality review to HR coordinators and developing HR professionals.
  • Partner with the Director of HR on workforce planning, organizational initiatives, compliance matters, and evolving People Operations priorities.

Who you are
  • 5+ years of human resources experience, including independent ownership of responsibilities commonly held by a Senior HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or comparable role.

  • Hands-on involvement in 401(k) or other retirement plan administration, including contributions, audits, vendor coordination, and corrections.
  • A track record of managing employee relations matters, including investigations, performance concerns, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, wage and hour requirements, and applicable federal and state employment laws.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements for employees, managers, executives, and external partners.
  • Strong organization and follow-through when balancing multiple sensitive or deadline-driven matters in a remote environment.
  • Background supporting a remote-first or geographically distributed workforce is preferred.
