Come Dream with Us at Hatch

There’s nothing like a great night’s sleep—the cozy, wrapped-up-in-a-heavy-blanket kind of sleep. The fire-crackling, curtains-drawn, DO NOT DISTURB kind of sleep. You know, the good stuff.

But here’s the thing: while 85% of people agree sleep is the key to their well-being, more than half are unsatisfied with their own. Whether it’s stress, interruptions, work, or little ones waking in the night, so many people need help getting truly restorative rest.

That’s where we come in. At Hatch, we’re on a mission to help people build better sleep habits—so they can feel more focused, energized, and present in their lives. We’ve designed best-in-class smart sleep devices, paired with science-backed sleep content, to help people unwind nightly, sleep deeply, and wake gently. More than 5 million sleepers of all ages have made space for rest with Hatch, with our baby products in 1 in 3 nurseries and our adult product, Restore, taking over nightstands (and TikTok) worldwide.

Now, we’re looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to help us on our mission.

The Role: How You’ll Make an Impact

Our People Team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join us in our mission to help people get their best sleep. The HR Business Partner is a critical role within the company partnering with Marketing, Content and G&A functions to execute people strategies focused on talent management. This person will help leaders optimize team development, performance, and engagement by having a deep knowledge of the team and creating impactful and efficient creative solutions. You will coach and advise on leadership/manager development, organization design, employee relations, feedback, career trajectory, engagement survey action planning, and successful onboarding and offboarding, etc. You will become an extended member of the teams you are partnering with and take insights back to the HR team to collaborate on solutions. You will also roll up your sleeves to get involved in HR operational needs or program development. This role will report to the VP of People & Talent Acquisition.

This role is remote-friendly but must be based in the U.S. or Canada. Hatch is based in California, so we ask that you’re available during PST/PDT hours.

What You'll Do

Within 3 Months:

  • Become familiar with all our people processes, company culture, and values.
  • Understand the goals of the business and what departments are working towards to achieve those goals.
  • Develop effective relationships with your direct team.
  • Meet with all of the leaders you will be a business partner to and get an understanding of their organization, challenges, and priorities and begin to partner with them on those areas.
  • Attend team meetings of the departments you are partnering with.
  • Begin to coach and advise on HR related matters.

Within 6 Months:

  • Be the subject matter expert on all people programs and offerings.
  • Diagnose challenges and create solutions that add value to the departments you are partnering with.
  • Add input or own various HR department initiatives and programs.
  • Collaborate with other HR Business Partners and the broader People team to align on shared practices, frameworks, and scalable solutions that strengthen our collective impact.
  • Translate business needs into actionable people programs that will enable the departments you partner with to excel and grow high-performing teams.

1 Year:

  • You will have proven to the business how impactful your partnership has been through visible results as shown in engagement surveys, feedback from colleagues, and team performance.
  • Contribute to a unified, high-performing HRBP function by identifying opportunities to standardize effective practices, foster peer learning, and elevate the overall consistency and quality of support across the business.
  • Continue to make recommendations and improvements in the way the HRBP partner works with the business and operates.
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of HRBP experience, with a demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a startup environment
  • A natural relationship-builder who fosters trust and influence across all levels—approachable and accessible, with the strategic ability to align senior leaders and cross-functional partners around business priorities.
  • A mindset of building for scale: excited to create tools, resources, and programs that can serve the broader organization—not just the teams you directly support
  • Highly ethical standards when it comes to confidentiality and judgment
  • A self-starter with a proven track record of independently driving projects from concept to completion, while staying aligned with broader People Operations priorities and team objectives.
  • Deep knowledge of HR best practices across change management, performance management, employee relations, L&D, engagement, and organizational development
  • Strong communicator with a growth mindset and the judgment to distinguish high-impact work versus performative exercises—guiding teams toward meaningful, value-driven actions.
  • A trustworthy, reliable presence  who operates with a sense of urgency and accountability
  • A strong understanding of employment law and compliance best practices
  • A strong collaborator who effectively partners across People & Talent functions—including HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition—to drive alignment, share knowledge, and contribute to a cohesive, high-performing team.
  • A proactive educator with a passion for leveraging technology—including AI —to drive efficiency and insight, while helping others build understanding and elevate team effectiveness.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
