Oxford Nanopore Technologies, a global leader in genomics, is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to manage HR activity across our Americas region as we expand our commercial operations.

This role is expected to work independently within the region, whilst reporting to and being supported by a global HR team, including COEs, based at the Company HQ in Oxford, UK.  The role will be both strategic and hands-on, responsible for building HR infrastructure, driving talent strategies, and supporting the full employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, performance, compensation, engagement, and compliance). You’ll partner with regional commercial leadership and contribute as part of ONT’s Global HR Team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the stand-alone Senior HR Business Partner for the Americas region (US, Canada, LATAM).
  • Contribute fully to shaping and refining the HR strategy for the AMR Business Units, (mainly Commercial/Sales), within the region, ensuring overall alignment with global HR, Talent and Reward strategies.  
  • Provide both strategic and operational HR Business Partnering support throughout the whole employment lifecycle.
  • Coach and advise managers on the management of HR matters and resolve more complex ER cases in line with company police and local legislation. 
  • Provide a pro-active, customer-focused HR service to stakeholders within the region.
  • Collaborate with the HRBP teams for the UK & EMEAI (based out of the HQ in Oxford, UK, and the APAC HRBP team to ensure general consistency of HR focus across regions  
  • Partner with talent acquisition, and reward, to deliver regional resourcing requirements and ensure ONT’s reward ethos is applied across the region.
  • Partner with the Talent Development COE to manage the co-ordination of in-person and virtual learning events.
  • Take a lead on local compliance requirements and local employee engagement initiatives.
  • Advise leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and labor law.
  • Ensure compliance with EEOC, Affirmative Action, and federal labor requirements.
  • Build HR processes to support business growth and culture.

What You Bring:

  • Degree in HR or related field (certification preferred).
  • Extensive HRBP/Senior HR Manager experience in the US, ideally in life sciences, pharma, or tech.
  • Deep knowledge of US labor law, federal compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, commercial matrixed environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Canada, LATAM, start-ups, or high-growth companies.
  • Familiarity with DEIB practices, mergers/acquisitions, and Oracle HR systems.

The salary for this role is between $135,000 and $ 150,000 USD. The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate. Certain roles within ONT are eligible for annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
