Position Overview: As a Senior Hardware Quality Engineer at Berkshire Grey, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our advanced robotic systems. You will be responsible for leading quality assurance initiatives, developing and implementing rigorous testing protocols, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in hardware design and manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of hardware engineering principles, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive hardware quality assurance plans.
  • Design, implement, and oversee testing protocols for hardware components and systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to address quality issues.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including test plans, test reports, and inspection procedures.
  • Refine a quality review process and sign-off with our Manufacturing CM.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to define factory testing procedures and acceptance criteria
  • Review and management of quality issues reported during manufacturing build and commissioning activities
  • Participate in design reviews to provide quality input.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot product or production issues.
  • Participate in engineering sample builds and reviews to ensure objectives and success criteria are defined.
  • Lead Verification & Validation planning and execution of new feature and product version releases.
  • Ensure that defects and failures are identified and tracked to resolution through industry-standard defect tracking and resolution tools.
  • Support the design and implementation of test fixturing required for product testing.
  • Analyze data from various sources to identify trends and drive data-driven decision-making.

Skills/Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4 or more years of related work experience, preferably in Design Quality/ Systems Engineering
  • Proven track record of leading quality assurance initiatives and improving product quality.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware testing methodologies, tools, and equipment.
  • Highly skilled with analysis tools/methods; experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Kibana preferred.
  • Experience with reliability plans and testing preferred.
  • Experienced in problem-solving tools/methods such as DOE, Fault trees, Fishbone, 5 whys, etc.
  • Experienced using a PLM tool such as Windchill or Omnify.
  • Good knowledge and experience with verification and validation testing and production test equipment qualification.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Must have the temperament to work effectively in a matrix organization and the confidence to stand firm on critical customer/quality requirements.

Travel: Up to 10% local travel to manufacturing facilities.
