Senior Growth Marketer (Performance & Lifecycle)

About Kilo
  • We're an open source AI coding agent taking on Cursor, Windsurf, and the rest of the AI coding assistant market

  • In just six months, we've reached 520,000+ installs and are generating 5 trillion tokens per month—putting us at the top of the leaderboard

  • Founded by Sid Sijbrandij (founder of GitLab, now a $7B public company)

  • We offer developers what they actually want: the ability to switch between 400+ of the latest AI models, with no vendor lock-in, transparent pricing, and a fully open source approach

  • Engineering teams use Kilo inside VSCode, JetBrains, or our CLI

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Growth Marketer who can own and scale our paid marketing engine while driving developers through the funnel from individual adoption to team and enterprise subscriptions. You'll be managing six-figure monthly budgets across all major paid channels, working hands-on to build, test, and optimize campaigns daily.

This isn't a role where you'll be managing agencies or waiting for approvals. You'll be an individual contributor working closely with our Growth Lead (Job Rietbergen) and devrel team, shipping daily in a fast-moving environment where speed and quick wins matter. If you thrive on autonomy, love the challenge of a competitive market, and want to help build the next great developer product, this is for you.

Responsibilities
  • Own and execute the paid marketing strategy across all channels (Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta, Reddit, X, Microsoft, developer communities), managing six-figure monthly budgets with a focus on driving positive ROI and scaling efficiently

  • Manage day-to-day campaign setup, monitoring, optimization, and continuous iteration—this is a hands-on role where you'll be in the platforms daily, running experiments and moving fast to find what works in a competitive landscape

  • Implement and optimize lifecycle marketing strategies to move developers through the funnel from free users to paid team and enterprise subscriptions, using content, webinars, email campaigns, and product-led touchpoints

  • Work with our existing martech stack (HubSpot, Customer.io, PostHog) to build automated nurture flows, identify friction points in the user journey, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve conversion rates

  • Build and maintain analytics dashboards to track paid initiatives, channel performance, CAC, ROI, and the full customer journey from first touch to enterprise conversion—we know complete attribution is hard and don't expect perfection, but we do expect you to bring data we can act on

  • Collaborate closely with teams such as devrel and engineering to align on messaging, new product and model launches—everyone at Kilo ships daily, and you'll be working at the same pace

  • Use data to inform strategy while being comfortable making quick decisions with incomplete information, communicating results and insights clearly across the organization

What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years of senior-level performance marketing experience, ideally in developer tools or PLG products

  • Proven track record managing and scaling (at least) six-figure monthly paid budgets across multiple channels with demonstrable ROI

  • Hands-on expertise building, launching, and optimizing campaigns—you've personally done the work, not just managed agencies

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with PostHog, SQL, conversion APIs from ad platforms, and marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Customer.io)

  • Affinity with AI, coding, and developer tools—you understand the product, the audience, and preferably have experience with LLMs

  • Excellent communicator who translates data into insights and can make fast decisions with sometimes incomplete information

  • Self-starter who thrives in high-velocity startup environments, finds quick wins, and builds scalable systems

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
