The Role: As Seer's founding growth hire, you'll build and own Seer's growth & demand motion from first touch through qualification, building quality relationships with digital and marketing leaders. Seer has 20+ years of relationships, a founder with a strong sense of community, and a library of research that opens doors. Your job is turning that into demand: building genuine relationships with the right people, qualifying real opportunities from polite interest, and collaborating with Business Development. You're consultative enough to hold an executive-level conversation about digital marketing without backup, resourceful enough to build your own playbook, and grounded enough to clean your own HubSpot data. You're chasing fit & value delivery over volume, measured on the pipeline you create, not the activity you log.
Role Highlights
- Pipeline & Account Development You'll build pipeline from two motions. First, Seer's warm community (roughly 40% of your focus): through events, webinars, tradeshows, long term relationships, former clients, and the audiences our thought leadership has already earned. You'll prioritize by recency, context, and fit, and every touch will carry a specific reason to talk. Second, net-new high-fit accounts (roughly 60%): targeted, personalized outreach using HubSpot, LinkedIn, and a strategic account based approach. No cold-call flooding, no mass sequences. You'll maintain enough pipeline coverage to consistently deliver quality first meetings against your targets.
- Consultative Relationship Building & Qualification You'll develop early-stage relationships with senior marketing and digital leaders, holding credible conversations about SEO, paid media, analytics, and AI without needing to loop in an SME from the start. Just as important: you'll qualify with discipline. You can separate a real opportunity from a friendly conversation, you know when to walk away, nurture, and you document why. When an opportunity is real, you'll bring in the BizDev team with a handoff that feels natural, not transactional, and you'll help shape what a great warm introduction looks like at Seer.
- Measurement & Reporting You'll track your inputs and your conversions, and leadership will see your pipeline contribution in reporting without having to ask for it. You'll double down on the plays that create pipeline and cut the ones that don't, and you'll be honest about which is which.
- CRM & Data Operations You'll own your data and operational infrastructure in HubSpot: data quality standards, ICP targeting, list building, and the operational workflows that will scale this function. You'll keep handoffs into BizDev's pipeline clean and trackable.
- Campaign Activation & Market Intelligence Seer's research, webinars, and events are your fuel, but you're not just waiting on the calendar. When Seer releases an AIO study or hosts a webinar, you'll have an activation plan ready to convert that attention into conversations. And when you see a campaign that would help you hit your targets, you'll ideate it, get creative, and own it, pulling in the editorial, marketing, client, and BizDev teams to bring it to life. You'll represent Seer at industry conferences to build relationships that matter, and working in the field, you'll synthesize what's resonating and bring those signals back to sharpen positioning and inform where marketing invests next.
Essential Skills
- You have 5+ years in demand generation, pipeline generation, outbound business development, or consultative sales, with direct exposure to digital marketing services or an agency environment
- You have a proven ability to build relationship-driven pipeline from scratch, not just run someone else's playbook, and you can point to the pipeline you created
- You qualify with discipline: you can tell us about an opportunity you walked away from and how you knew
- You have digital marketing fluency: you understand SEO, paid media, analytics, and AI well enough to hold credible conversations with senior marketing leaders
- Agency, consultancy, or startup experience strongly preferred
- You have CRM (HubSpot) proficiency: list building, data hygiene, pipeline tracking
- You can show up to a call with a CMO and carry the conversation, and you enjoy building those connections
- You are self-directed and highly autonomous: you set your own agenda and define the approach with direction from the Director of Marketing, with the Marketing and BizDev teams for support
- You love to collaborate with internal teams to build a well-rounded approach
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and excited to help shape a role as you grow into it
- You measure success in quality outcomes: first meetings, pipeline created, revenue influenced
- You are excited to apply AI tools to your workflow: research, outreach, data analysis
30/60/90 Day Goals
- You've audited and cleaned Seer's HubSpot ICP data and established a repeatable process for ongoing hygiene
- You're running a consistent weekly cadence of quality, personalized touches across Seer's warm segments, plus your first prioritized net-new target list with a clear go-to-market rationale
- You've delivered your first quality opportunities, and the opportunities you passed on have a system to track reasons why
- You've activated at least one pipeline motion tied to an existing Seer content or events asset
- You've built strong working relationships with marketing, BD, and SMEs, and you understand how Seer sells and delivers
- You've proposed a first definition of what a quality SQL looks like at Seer, and your pipeline contribution shows up in reporting without anyone chasing you for it
This might not be the role for you if....
You're motivated primarily by closing and lose interest once you've handed a relationship off
You want a pre-sorted list and a script rather than 20 years of relationships and the judgment to know who to call first
Your restart move for a cold relationship is "just checking in"
You expect clean data, defined playbooks, and support staff behind you
You measure success by activity volume: emails sent, calls made, sequences launched
You don't have a working knowledge of digital marketing and how agencies deliver value
You need a fully defined role to do your best work
