🚀 About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a front-end focus who has experience working with commercial. You’ll turn a marketing campaign, a pricing test or a new product launch into a fast, reliable experience, then measure whether it worked.

Your main focus will be zoe.com and our acquisition and conversion journeys, including landing pages, checkout, sign-up and product launches across our app subscriptions and physical products. You’ll spend most of your time in TypeScript, React and Next.js, and you’ll work in our backend services (Kotlin or Python) whenever a feature needs it.

This is a senior individual contributor role. We’re looking for someone who works autonomously, makes sound decisions independently and takes full ownership of their work.

💻 Our Stack
  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js, React, GraphQL

  • Backend: Kotlin / Spring Boot, Python / FastAPI and Django

  • Tools: DatoCMS / headless CMS, Optimizely / AB testing tools, Grafana, Sentry, Firebase Auth

  • CI/CD: ArgoCD, GitHub Actions

  • Data: web data layer, dbt, BigQuery

  • Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Vercel

👥 About the Team

You’ll join ZOE’s Growth team, which drives how people discover, learn and become a member. Growth sits where engineering meets the commercial side of the business. We work closely with marketing, CRM, product, design and analytics to turn ideas into experiments, and experiments into results.

Our wider Engineering team is a distributed across the UK and EU, with skills spanning web, mobile and backend engineering, machine learning, data science and analytics. We’re proud of the diversity in our team: 39% female and 61% male, with colleagues from many backgrounds, cultures and lived experiences. We believe this makes us stronger, more creative and better able to serve our global community.

Above all, we value curiosity, openness and empowerment. We encourage everyone to share ideas, keep learning and shape how we work.

🎯 What you’ll be doing
  • Owning growth initiatives end to end: from shaping the idea with commercial partners, through technical delivery, to measuring the result.

  • Partnering with commercial teams: working day to day with marketing, CRM and product to deliver campaigns, launches and acquisition journeys, often to tight, business-critical deadlines.

  • Running experiments: designing, launching and analysing A/B tests with our analysts, and using the results to decide what to build next.

  • Building a fast, high-converting zoe.com: owning web performance, accessibility and conversion across key journeys such as landing pages, sign-up and checkout.

  • Adapting to changing priorities: making pragmatic trade-offs when plans change, and helping the team decide what to build, what to defer and what to drop.

  • Working across the stack: shaping APIs and making backend changes where growth features need them, in Kotlin or Python.

  • Contributing to the design system: helping grow our shared component library so the team can ship consistent experiences quickly.

  • Shipping continuously: releasing to production daily, often more than once, with the testing and monitoring in place to do so safely.

🧠 We think you’d be great if you…
  • Have 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on front-end.

  • Have strong experience with TypeScript, React and Next.js, and know how to build fast, accessible and well-tested web experiences.

  • Have worked closely with commercial functions such as marketing, growth, sales or CRM, and enjoy turning business goals into product outcomes.

  • Have hands-on experience with experimentation and analytics, such as A/B testing, conversion optimisation or funnel analysis.

  • Work autonomously: you take ownership of ambiguous problems, make decisions with limited guidance and keep stakeholders informed.

  • Have working knowledge of a backend language (such as Python, Kotlin or Java) and are comfortable making backend changes.

  • Have worked in a startup or scale-up environment and are comfortable with a fast pace and shifting priorities.

✨ Nice to have
  • Experience with Optimizely or similar experimentation tools

  • Experience in e-commerce, subscriptions or direct-to-consumer growth

  • Experience building or contributing to a design system

  • React Native experience, or interest in growth across web and mobile

  • Production experience with Kotlin or Python

🌍 Where and how we work
  • This is a permanent, full-time employed position.

  • Fully remote, open to candidates based in the UK, Ireland, Spain or Germany who have the permanent right to work there. We’re not able to offer visa sponsorship.

  • We work across UK and Central European time zones, with core collaboration hours. We get together in person once a quarter for team offsites at our London office, and once a year for a company-wide retreat.

✨ Our Hiring Journey

We value your time. While the exact steps and timeline can vary slightly depending on the role, seniority, and team, we’ve designed a streamlined 4-step blueprint to get us from "Hello" to "Welcome to the team" as efficiently as possible:

  1. 👋 Intro Chat with the Talent Team: A high-energy alignment check to learn about you and share our vision.

  2. 🧠 Hiring Manager Interview: A tactical conversation focused on your craft, experience, and aspirations.

  3. 🔄 The Remote Loop: 2 to 4 focused interviews assessing your technical expertise, behavioural approach, and collaboration style.

  4. 🎉 Offer & Welcome: Finalising the details and getting you ready to hit the ground running!

Once we connect, we pride ourselves on moving fast. Our average hiring process takes between 20 to 30 days, depending on the complexity of the role.

We love momentum, but we’re always happy to adjust the timeline to match your schedule and personal preference.
