Stratus, deriving from the Latin term meaning ‘layer’, offers an advanced set of MEP specific solutions that seamlessly layer across a contractor’s entire workflow from design to fabrication to installation. Our team of seasoned industry experts, skilled technology leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs understands that fabrication does not occur in isolation, and increasingly, it may not happen within your own fabrication shop. Through close relationships with our customers—who include some of the most innovative and largest MEP contractors—we have developed a suite of Stratus tools to digitize, automate, and optimize piping, plumbing, sheet metal, and electrical contracting. Stratus provides the software layer an MEP Contractor needs to optimize profits with true “Data Driven Contracting.”

ROLE:

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will join our Customer Solutions Engineering (CSE) team to rapidly resolve customer-reported bugs and drive down our high-priority backlog in Stratus, our construction technology platform. This role requires someone who can independently dive into an unfamiliar codebase, reverse-engineer complex features with minimal guidance, and deliver fixes within weeks of joining the team.

We have a typical backend stack including API, presentation and data layers; coupled with several async backend services using Azure Service Bus. Frontend is a mixture of Vue.js and TypeScript, with legacy desktop components in WPF. You'll work across 3D visualization with Autodesk Viewer, PDF generation and report rendering, database optimization with MongoDB and SQL, and performance-critical user interactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Triage and resolve customer-reported bugs across the full stack, including 3D visualization, report generation, PDF rendering, and user interaction issues
  • Independently investigate and fix issues by exploring the codebase, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions with minimal direction
  • Work directly from tickets - receiving assignments, asking appropriate business questions, and delivering tested fixes
  • Ensure performance integrity - validate that your fixes don't introduce performance degradation using profiling tools and load testing
  • Collaborate with the CSE team to prioritize work and coordinate deployments in a fast-paced environment
  • Contribute to backlog reduction with a goal of sustainable ticket velocity and reduced accumulation

CORE STACK

  • Backend: C# / .NET, Azure cloud services, Azure Service Bus
  • Frontend: Vue.js, TypeScript
  • Databases: MongoDB (primary), SQL databases
  • 3D Visualization: Autodesk Viewer, BIM360 Docs integration
  • Infrastructure: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Netlify for microfrontends

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of full-stack development with proven ability to context-switch between frontend and backend work
  • Strong C# and .NET experience, comfortable working in existing codebases
  • Solid frontend skills with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, React, or Angular)
  • Database proficiency with both NoSQL (MongoDB) and SQL databases
  • Performance analysis experience using tools like JMeter, memory profilers, and application monitoring
  • Azure cloud services understanding and deployment experience
  • Solid communication skills: Able to communicate internally across teams and meet with customers to triage complex technical issues
  • Extreme self-sufficiency - you can pick up a ticket, explore unfamiliar code, and deliver a fix
  • Strong debugging skills - Ability to trace issues through complex systems and reproduce edge cases

NICE TO HAVE:

  • WPF or desktop application development background (extra points)
  • Construction or manufacturing industry domain knowledge
  • Experience with shift-left testing practices and automated testing frameworks
  • Familiarity with microfrontends architecture
  • Experience with Autodesk APIs (Forge, BIM360, Model Derivative)

This is a remote role, but candidates must be based in the U.S.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
