This role is a hybrid position
Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office. 

The Core FP&A team are the consolidators and storytellers of Sonos financials, partnering with teams throughout the organization to deliver actionable insights and analysis to our most senior leaders.  We lead the FP&A organization in planning, forecasting and reporting by designing the processes and tools to facilitate these activities and are continuously looking for ways to improve the same. This role will report to the Director, Core FP&A.

What You’ll Do

The Core FP&A team is looking for a high performer to be our lead for all things gross margin. We are looking for someone to join our team who is highly motivated, curious and excited about reporting, data and process improvements. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working for a company that lives its brand and delivers on its promise to create the ultimate home music experience  Additionally, this person will:

  • Become the subject matter expert for all things gross margin, working cross functionally across the revenue and supply chain finance and accounting teams to understand our key drivers - deep diving on volume and mix driven items, revenue related items, and COGS.

  • Prepare the year over year, actuals/forecast vs forecast, and quarter over quarter gross margin bridges each month as a part of our monthly re-forecast, and each quarter as a part of the close.

  • Ownership of the analysis and story around gross margin performance. Supporting internal reviews with the CFO, Head of Corporate Finance and accounting leadership and external support for the earnings process.

  • Further development of the gross margin analysis, including more formalized deep dives into specific drivers and future work toward automation of the analysis in a system or tool.

  • Review our SEC filings and other external workpapers for accuracy, content, and language as it relates to gross margin.

  • Additional support for the team includes ownership of revenue and unit based forecast assumptions for the core team, revenue per unit analysis, customer facing discount analysis, bi-weekly P&L flash estimate for gross margin, and other ad hoc projects supporting the core FP&A team or business partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or similar field.

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ progressive experience working in FP&A, consulting, investment banking, or other related field.

  • Right first time mentality with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Intellectual curiosity and desire and focus on continuous improvement.

  • Proactive communication style.

  • Proficiency in modeling and financial analysis using tools like Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at using visuals to tell stories.

  • Passionate about continuous process improvement and utilizing technology to automate process steps whenever possible.

  • High integrity, self-aware, humble.

  • Positive attitude, optimism and willingness to learn.

  • Willingness to work out of Sonos Boston office 2-3 days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of, or experience with, FP&A or accounting for a consumer-facing discretionary goods business. (i.e. consumer electronics, DTC and/ or other retail)

  • Strong understanding of gross margin variance drivers (volume, mix, rate, etc.) and experience bridging these variances

  • Experience with Anaplan or other financial planning software

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA or Analytics for Office (AO)

  • Experience using Tableau (data visualization tool), SQL

  • Experience using AI productivity tools

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$88,000 and $110,000

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market.  Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of  the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
