Human Interest is on a mission to ensure that people in all lines of work have access to retirement benefits.

More than half of all working Americans are not saving enough for their future. Too often, it’s because they are employed by a company that doesn’t offer a retirement plan. Human Interest is changing that by making it affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses to offer employees a path to financial independence through retirement savings.

We’re a high-growth fintech company changing the retirement industry. We are backed by a number of investors. This includes funding from Marshall Wace and Baillie Gifford, as well as top investors such as BlackRock, TPG (The Rise Fund), SoftBank, Glynn Capital, NewView Capital, USVP, Wing, Uncork, and more.

What you get to do every day

  • Develop and implement world class financial reporting and forecasting processes, encompassing long-range planning and scenario modeling
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and their teams to provide ad hoc financial analysis and budgetary support. Deliver actionable insights to inform key decisions and align capital allocation with strategic company initiatives
  • Identify and streamline processes, drive standardization, and build scalable solutions on the “way we do things” to support our next phase of elevated growth and scale
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to effectively measure financial performance against strategic objectives. Help us understand where we have room for improvement across the P&L
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to continuously improve our FP&A systems to enhance operational efficiency while making the system easy to use
  • Prepare materials for Board of Directors meetings, investors, and internal reporting

What you bring to the role

  • Self-starter, challenging the status quo, and provide recommendations
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in FP&A at high-growth software company and/or investment banking
  • Deep understanding of SaaS business models and a proven ability to analyze key SaaS metrics (e.g., ARR, Churn, LTV, CAC)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets and financial systems (ideally Netsuite and Pigment)
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Netsuite, Workday, Anaplan. Expertise in Pigment a plus!
  • Demonstrated agility in learning and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to collaborate across functions and levels throughout the company, as well as with external partners

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
