CORPORATE FINANCE GROUP

The Corporate Finance Group consists of 25 individuals and is responsible for the day to day accounting for the Global Management Company.  Our current Enterprise Risk Platform (general ledger system) is Workday Financials. The Global Management Company consolidates the operations of the Investment Advisors (one for each business – Private Equity, Credit, Ventures, Public Equity, Double Impact, Life Sciences, Real Estate, and Partnership Strategies) and the entities by geography including Asia Pacific (Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Australia), Europe (London, Dublin, Munich and South Africa) and India (Mumbai and Mauritius).  The Corporate Finance Group is also responsible for tax accounting and works closely with the Tax Department on Tax Reporting. Various other responsibilities within the group include the treasury and cash management function, internal reporting, external reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed assets.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Finance Associate, as a member of the Corporate Finance team, is primarily responsible for the process of allocating and invoicing capital markets deal related costs between the Advisor and the Global Special Situations, Credit, Partnership Strategies & Public Equity funds. The Senior Finance Associate shall develop and use subject matter expertise to manage and execute all aspects of the process, including the following key tasks:

  • Manage the process of allocating capital markets deal related costs and transaction fees to ensure compliance with prescribed methodologies, accuracy of all allocation calculations, effectiveness of the capital markets allocation system, administration of treatment intricacies and the completion of all supporting tasks and schedules

  • Allocate dead deal costs and transaction fees between Advisor, capital markets funds, business units, and outside parties using various data sources

  • Prepare and deliver the fee and cost sharing invoices to Managed Account funds, including supporting calculations and transaction detail

  • Perform detailed and analytical reviews for accuracy of allocations and costs using the expense allocation system and payment tracker; research, resolve and document any discrepancies

  • Use the expense allocation system throughout procedures to complete monthly system tasks, prepare reconciliations, input of data updates, review results, complete fund sharing calculations, compile invoices and for reporting deliverables

  • Work closely with IT to resolve system related issues and to implement enhancements and new functionality

  • Work closely with key stakeholders (Global teams including Corporate Finance, Business Unit Finance, General Counsel, Compliance, Tax and Investment professionals) on points impacting the cost allocation and invoice processes

  • Review coding and payments for invoices received from external suppliers

  • Reconcile wires on a weekly basis to ensure fund ledger aligns with bank statements for all fund payments

  • Communicate with internal teams and outside service providers to prepare and deliver monthly and ad hoc reporting, field inquiries and provide additional explanations and data as needed

  • Understand the capital markets investment life cycle, prescribed cost sharing methodologies, limited partner agreement provisions, and tax guidance in order to ensure compliance and to Review and reconcile advisor reimbursements monthly

  • Work closely with Corporate Finance team members for capital markets deal-related costs, invoices, and reimbursements, coordinating proper cost sharing treatment, and invoicing outside parties

  • Develop and refine essential procedures as business needs evolve and expand

  • Opportunities for additional responsibilities where performance allows

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and professional;

  • Self-starter with strong project management and follow-through skills. Works well independently.

  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to effectively prioritize large volume of tasks with a high attention to detail.

  • Highly analytical and with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to use own initiative and take responsibility for decisions and solutions

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (email and verbal) with ability to interact with all levels

  • Strong Excel skills; experience with Workday, Tableau and Integridata - EAS a plus

DESIRED BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor in Accounting or Finance is a must with a minimum GPA of 3.3

  • 3 - 4  years of related Corporate Finance or Management Company experience

  • Familiarity with Corporate ERP systems
