Business Overview
Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Summary
As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will be part of the Corporate Finance team playing a crucial role in analyzing financial data, developing forecasts, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making across the organization. This includes the executive leadership, the Board of Directors, as well as company’s investors and shareholders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide essential support to the company's budgeting and forecast processes, and will help track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as provide ad-hoc support, creating financial analysis and reports on a variety of topics, all of which executive leadership uses to drive business performance and strategy. In this role you will be empowered to identify and deliver process improvements, and to initiate projects that help improve efficiency and usefulness of financial and investor relations reports. In this role you will get regular exposure to senior company leaders and will gain a valuable high-level perspective on the overall performance and management of the entire corporation, as well as investor relations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely financial insight and analysis to support reporting needs of executive leadership, Board of Directors, as well as investors and shareholders (investor relations).
- Support financial planning and analysis processes company-wide, including budgeting, forecasts, data analytics, KPI tracking, and preparing management presentations.
- Deliver accurate data analytics to Finance leadership and Company leadership in areas such as sales, backlog, margins, inventory, and other areas.
- Collect, aggregate, and analyze investor relations information and market data as needed.
- Support and lead other Corporate Finance processes, ad-hoc analysis requests and/or projects as needed.
- Support process improvements across global FP&A and Finance processes, driving efficiencies and accuracy, ultimately improving decision-making at Novanta.
General Tasks
- Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- BS degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in some of the following areas: financial planning and analysis, financial management, and data analysis
- Exceptional financial, analytical, and modeling skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently; hands-on individual contributor
- Advanced Microsoft Tools (Excel, PPT) and Enterprise Performance Management tools (HFM, Oracle EPM, etc.)
- Experience using Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) is preferred
- Demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives, including problem identification & mitigation
- Demonstrated success in project management, including scoping, resource and time management, working cross-functionally, and achieving project targets
- Ideally experience in industrial manufacturing market
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills
- Self- started with leader mentality, motivated by curiosity and learning, and thriving in the dynamic and flexible environment of a growing company.
