Compensation: This role is eligible for equity and the benefits & perks listed below. Depending on your location, the starting cash compensation range, inclusive of Base Salary + Variable Target, vs base salary only is:
Tier 1 (Bay Area, NYC, SEA) : $170,000 - $225,000
Tier 2 (LA, SD, BOS, ATX, DC, PHI): $164,000 - $217,000
Tier 3 (DAL, ATL, HOU, NSH, MIA, ALB): $153,000 - $208,000
Tier 4 (Other): $133,000 - $189,000
Our compensation market ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range provided reflects the target cash compensation for new hires in major metropolitan areas. Actual compensation will vary based on the candidate's specific location, skills, experience, and capabilities, as well as internal benchmarking.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-impact Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure team operating in a follow-the-sun model, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for site reliability, observability, cloud finops, and cloud infrastructure.
- Own and evolve the reliability, performance, and scalability of EZ Texting's cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud.
- Drive adoption of cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes (GKE), Terraform, Ansible, and automation-first approaches.
- Architect and automate infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
- Define and drive SLOs/SLIs that align system reliability with business objectives
- Champion security best practices to drive compliance with SOC 2 Type 2, CCPA, and other frameworks
- Improve monitoring, observability, and alerting to detect and prevent incidents proactively
- Participate in incident response, postmortems, and system hardening initiatives
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Provide input into long-term infrastructure and platform requirements to support business growth and scalability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or related fields, with a strong technical background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and system reliability.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, including managing and mentoring engineers, driving strategy, and leading initiatives.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), including networking, security, and best practices.
- Strong proficiency in Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and configuration management (Ansible, etc.).
- Fluency in scripting (Python, Bash) for automation and operational tasks.
- Proven track record of defining and executing an architectural vision to drive reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Experience defining and implementing SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs to drive reliability improvements.
- Proficient in agile team software development and strong project management, delivering complex projects within defined timelines and resource constraints.
- Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration, working with engineering and product teams to align goals.
- Strong communication skills, with a focus on clear documentation, knowledge sharing, and decision-making transparency.
- Passion for driving a high-performing engineering culture and mentoring engineers to develop technical and leadership skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a bias for action and problem-solving.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
