Job SummaryTYLin is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Low Voltage / Building Power (House Power) systems to join our growing multidisciplinary engineering team in New York City.This role focuses on the design and delivery of electrical systems that power complex facilities, supporting a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and civic projects including airports, transit stations, cultural institutions, data centers, libraries, educational facilities, recreation centers, and other public or institutional buildings.
This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys hands-on design work, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the development of technically sound and constructible electrical systems that support some of the most visible infrastructure projects in the region.
We are ideally seeking 10+ years of experience, but we are also open to licensed Professional Engineers looking to take the next step in their career and grow into a senior design role.Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You’ll Do:
Lead the design and engineering of low-voltage building electrical systems (“house power”) supporting a wide range of facilities and public infrastructure projects.
Develop electrical power distribution layouts and detailed design packages including panelboards, lighting systems, branch circuits, grounding systems, and equipment connections.
Produce and review construction drawings, specifications, load calculations, and technical documentation.
Perform lighting analysis and photometric studies to support functional and energy-efficient facility design.
Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, structural, and civil teams to integrate electrical systems within complex facility environments.
Support design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination, and client presentations.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, supporting quality and consistency in design deliverables.
Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities when required.
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience focused on building electrical systems and facility power distribution.
Candidates with less experience who hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license and are ready for a ‘step-up’ opportunity are strongly encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated expertise in designing low voltage electrical distribution systems for complex facilities.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and documentation.
Experience performing lighting calculations and photometric analysis using AGi32.
Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC and relevant local codes.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams.
Highly Desirable Expertise:
Experience using Bentley MicroStation OpenBuildings Designer for electrical design within building environments.
Experience delivering electrical design for large or complex facilities such as airports, transit hubs, data centers, civic buildings, or institutional campuses.
Prior experience supporting public sector or transportation-related infrastructure projects.
