As a Senior Editor, Expansion in The Infatuation, you develop restaurant guides from start to finish and manage a network of freelance contributors to uncover the best places to eat around the world. You balance utility and entertainment, edit for a strong voice, and experiment to reach new audiences across channels. You partner with internal teams to identify growth opportunities and evolve coverage over time.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Set and oversee an editorial calendar for restaurant guides to select domestic and international cities, and see these guides through from start to finish
  • Source, vet, and maintain a diverse network of credible freelance writers; actively assign out new guides, taking time to walk each new writer through our voice and style
  • Lead ideation around seasonal content packages and ensure we’re covering the right destinations at the right time and in a way that’s authentic to our brand
  • Lead content promotion and distribution strategy across organic and paid channels
  • Occasionally travel to meet with writers and build knowledge of local restaurant scenes
  • Write guides and restaurant reviews as needed to support your select domestic and international cities, including the city you live in
  • Use our SEO resources to identify areas of opportunity and growth within our coverage
 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years of editing experience, with an existing network of freelance writers that cover food, dining, and travel
  • Deep and diverse knowledge of the best restaurants around the world, from food carts to fine dining, with ideas for how to cover them in smart, entertaining ways
  • Experience at a restaurant or travel publication, or experience covering those topics
  • An informed and inclusive perspective on the most exciting food cities—you’re the person who’s always asked for recommendations on where to go, what to eat, and what to do
  • You're personally interested in and passionate about travel, and plan your trips around restaurants and bars
