Flagship Pioneering is a biotechnology company that invents and builds platform companies, each with the potential for multiple products that transform human health or sustainability. We create about six new companies every year and incubate them through successive rounds of funding.

Since launching in 2000, Flagship has originated and fostered more than 100 scientific ventures, resulting in more than $90 billion in aggregate value.

Many of the companies Flagship has founded have addressed humanity’s most urgent challenges: vaccinating billions of people against COVID-19, curing intractable diseases, improving human health, preempting illness, and feeding the world by improving the resiliency and sustainability of agriculture.

This is a pivotal leadership role overseeing network infrastructure, cloud strategy, Microsoft environments (including MS365), operational security, and telephony—ensuring a resilient, secure, and future-ready foundation for our business.

As we transition from a scattered IT landscape to a cohesive, global infrastructure, we need a visionary leader who brings technical expertise, strong leadership, and exceptional communication skills. This role requires someone who thrives in transformation, embraces modern technologies, and is eager to drive change with energy, enthusiasm, and a forward-thinking mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Cloud Strategy

  • Drive the adoption of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or hybrid solutions) to optimize our IT landscape.
  • Ensure a modern and cost-effective telephony and communication infrastructure.

Microsoft Environments & Operational Security

  • Lead the optimization of Microsoft environments, including MS365, Active Directory, and related technologies.
  • Implement and maintain strong operational security practices, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with security teams to proactively manage risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.

Embracing New Technologies & AI

  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies, including automation, AI-driven solutions, and next-generation infrastructure tools.
  • Identify opportunities where AI and intelligent automation can enhance efficiency, security, and performance in infrastructure and operations.
  • Drive innovation by staying ahead of industry trends and disruptive technologies, ensuring the organization is leveraging the best tools for the future.

Leadership & Transformation

  • Be a change champion, fostering innovation and adoption of modern tools and practices.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align infrastructure strategy with business goals.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring clear direction, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, working closely with application, data, and security teams to build a unified IT ecosystem.
  • We support leadership development and offer opportunities for growth, mentorship, and exposure to strategic decision-making at the highest levels.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • 10–15 years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations, with a proven track record of leadership in large-scale IT environments.
  • Strong background in enterprise infrastructure, including networking, cloud (Azure/AWS), Microsoft technologies, and operational security.
  • Deep understanding of modern infrastructure trends, including automation, AI-driven operations, zero-trust security, and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with large-scale transformations, including global standardization and modernization efforts.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in driving change, fostering innovation, and rallying teams around a unified vision.
  • forward-thinking, modern approach to IT solutions and enterprise technology.
  • problem-solver who is proactive, adaptable, and thrives in fast-moving environments.
  • Strong ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution when needed.

Why Join Us?

  • Lead a high-impact transformation and shape the future of our IT infrastructure.
  • Work in a fast-paced, global environment with a focus on innovation.
  • Be part of a leadership team that values modern technology, AI-driven innovation, and continuous growth.

If you are a passionate technology leader ready to take on a transformational challenge, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for high-potential leaders who are eager to grow. If you don’t meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we encourage you to apply. We value passion, adaptability, and a learning mindset.

Flagship Pioneering and our ecosystem companies are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

At Flagship, we recognize there is no perfect candidate. If you have some of the experience listed above but not all, please apply anyway. Experience comes in many forms, skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way. We are dedicated to building diverse and inclusive teams and look forward to learning more about your unique background.
