Job Summary: The Senior Director, US Market Access, will lead a field-based team to support the TMTT business unit by working with hospital executives, cardiovascular leaders, and physicians. This role ensures successful adoption and continuous use of TMTT therapies through education on reimbursement and demonstrating their health economic value. The Senior Director will collaborate with clinical opinion leaders, hospitals, and internal policy teams to address policy and reimbursement barriers and serve as a thought partner for internal stakeholders.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead the field-based market access team and evolve the TMTT Global Health Economics and Reimbursement (GHER) customer-facing strategy to achieve business goals and objectives.

  • Provide high-touch account-based support, build access to key leaders, and execute GHER tailored programs.

  • Facilitate solutions to reimbursement and policy issues customers experience by collaborating with internal team members, payers, and third-party entities to address insurance requirements such as prior authorization, denials, and appeals.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders at hospitals engaged in TMTT therapies, including hospital executives, cardiovascular administrators, quality, finance, billing & coding teams, and physicians and surgeons.

  • Partner with the sales leadership and to shape strategy and execute programs for effective adoption and utilization of TMTT therapies, including account management, benchmarking, targeting, onboarding, training, and strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate with other Edwards Field GHER leaders to coordinate account engagement strategies that ensure optimal customer experience, as appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with the TMTT GHER US Coverage & Payment team, to coordinate regional and local commercial payer strategies, and lead field team efforts to engage with targeted payers to manage, edit, and establish payer and reimbursement policies for TMTT therapies

  • Identify customer insights and partner within GHER and sales leadership to co-develop strategies including input in evidence generation priorities that address customer challenges experienced when adopting TMTT therapies.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, particularly the TMTT GHER Service Line Value team, to develop customer-facing resources and execute customer programs.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to share customer insights, optimize dissemination of and improve therapy awareness and adoption.

  • Ability to travel up to 50 to 70% of the time to support programs and for internal meetings and conferences.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Proven track record to lead, inspire, and motivate a team and drive performance via clear communication of objectives and performance towards objectives.

  • Analyze, formulate, and present recommendations to advise and guide executive-level leadership; develop and deliver executive-level communication.

  • Develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of health economics, and reimbursement to the business.

  • Develop strategic and annual operating plans including performance metrics, reporting, operational processes, talent strategy, budget management, and recommend and implement changes to methods through leadership. Create business cases and advocate for resources required to implement plans and achieve business objectives.

  • Build and execute robust talent development and succession planning in alignment with functional growth strategies across the global health economics, and reimbursement organization and other functions.

  • Plan and direct strategic activities, including prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects with overall responsibility for meeting business objectives.

  • Ensure complaint processes and proactively mitigate/eliminate risk, direct and communicate complex health, economics, and reimbursement strategies, including negotiations with internal and external parties.

  • Lead in identifying risk, developing mitigation strategies, best practices, alternative solutions, and resolving issues in collaboration with cross-functional and/or matrix teams.

What you will need (required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in life science, health economics, health policy, business, or related field.

  • Minimum of 14 years of experience in health policy, health economics, medical device reimbursement, and/or technology assessment.

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in a field-based, consultative, or administrative role within the healthcare industry. Reimbursement and/or sales experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical device/pharmaceutical healthcare compliance rules and regulations with experience adhering to an organization’s code of conduct.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external customers.

  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs staff).

  • Ability to provide insight into key economic and reimbursement issues based on data and procedure processes.

  • A solid understanding of public payer programs, e.g., CMS, including coverage, coding, and payment policies.

  • Strong understanding of the commercial insurance landscape and relevant reimbursement processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Co-Pilot).

  • Excellent people skills, relationship management skills, written and verbal communication skills, and excellent presentation development and live or virtual presentation delivery skills.

What else we look for (preferred) :

  • Master’s degree in life science, health economics, health policy, business, or related field and experience with medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare providers is preferred.

  • Possess a deep knowledge of healthcare trends, health and reimbursement policy, and the medical device market.

  • Experience with medical device coverage and reimbursement processes and payer policy development.

  • Experience with inpatient hospital coding and billing.

  • Experience with using real-world evidence and medical and clinical data to support the value proposition.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with hospital leaders and physician customers.

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.

For Illinois (IL), the base pay range for this position is $204,000 to $289,000 (highly experienced).
